Summer 2022 Falmouth Public Library Youth Services is thrilled to be working with Highfield Hall and Gardens to facilitate a 10 week summertime series of free family StoryWalks! From Juneteenth until Labor Day, a new story will be installed every Monday. Start at the gravel parking lot entrance at Highfield and travel down the ADA Accessible Historic Beech Tree Path. While you' are there, enjoy the music garden, perfect for kids of all ages. Tag us on Instagram at #fpl-childrens and #HighfieldHallFalmouth. Drop in on Mondays between 10am-12pm for a Coalition for Children's hands-on craft with Rosemary on the porch! This craft is geared towards children ages 3 and up.

Friends of the Falmouth Public Library Summer Book Sale The Friends of the Falmouth Public Library will hold their Annual Summer Book Sale on the library lawn from Friday, July 1st through Wednesday, July 6th! The Summer Book Sale will be open every day from 10am-4pm except for the final day, July 6th in which it will be open from 10am-12pm. We can't wait to see you at the book sale!

Wednesday Night Movies The Falmouth Public Library will be showing two summer movie classics in the Hermann room on Wednesday Nights in July, Independence Day from 1996 and Jaws from 1975! These movie viewings are free to the public and are sponsored by the Friends of the Falmouth Public Library. Registrations are required and each movie is limited to 60 participants.

Jaws 1975: Rated PGWednesday, July 20th at 6pm in the Hermann room "When a young woman is killed by a shark near the New England tourist town of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody wants to close the beaches, but mayor Larry Vaughn overrules him, fearing that the loss of tourist revenue will cripple the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hooper and grizzled ship captain Quint offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, and the trio engage in an epic battle of man vs. nature."

Adventure Storytime with Ms. Deirdre Join Ms. Deirdre on Wednesday, June 29th from 10am-10:30am for stories and movement on the library lawn! Adventure Storytime is suitable for ages 3 through 5 but all are welcome. No registration required, just stop on by!

Summer Reading Program Kick Off Party Youth Services is kicking off the Falmouth Public Library's summer reading program on Wednesday, June 29th from 3pm-5pm with a party out on the library lawn! Have you ever been inside a whale before? Come start off the summer by learning about right whales (a local marine mammal) with Delilah, a life-sized inflatable North Atlantic right whale! There will also be games out on the library lawn to play, too! Delilah's Visit, a program of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation USA, is dependent on weather and is sponsored by the Friends of the Falmouth Public Library.

Beach Storytime Join Ms. Deirdre and the Book Bike for Beach Storytime at Surf Drive Beach on Thursday, June 30th from 4:45pm-5:15pm! Fun for the whole family, we will read and have books to take home. Storytime at Surf Drive Beach is weather dependent.

Octopus: Making Contact - A Falmouth Reads Together Event Join us on Friday, June 24th from 2pm-4pm for the documentary viewing of Octopus: Making Contact in the Hermann room. Registration is required and is limited to 35 participants. In Octopus: Making Contact, "Nature follows Dr. David Scheel as he links behavioral discoveries to amazing octopus stories around the world, from the day octopus that can change color and texture to the coconut octopus who carries around its coconut shell to hide."

The House of Mirth Book Group Join this special book group discussion on Monday, June 27th at 4:30pm to discuss and share your thoughts on Edith Wharton's The House of Mirth. The group will meet in the Hermann meeting room and for those who wish to join from home, you can join via Zoom. To get the Zoom link, please contact Linda Collins. Reflecting On Your Moon Teens are welcome to join us on Tuesday, June 28th from 3pm-5pm in the YA room for an interactive Astrology workshop! This workshop will focus on the significance of the moon. Learn the basics of reading birth carts as well as the placement and significance of the moon in your personal birth chart. Supplies will also be provided to make a personal moon mirror. Registration is required.

Fact & Fiction Book Club Join the Fact & Fiction Book Club on Wednesday, June 29th from 10am-11am at the East Falmouth Branch Library to discuss and share your thoughts on A Song Everlasting: A Novel by Ha Jin. Registration is not required and copies are available for pickup at the East Falmouth Branch Library. "From the universally admired, award-winning author of Waiting and The Boat Rocker, A Song Everlasting is an urgent, timely novel that follows a famous Chinese singer severed from his country as he works to find his way in the United States."
