In 2021, Emily was also named one of Library Journal’s Movers & Shakers, a national honor. We are very proud to have Emily as one of our team.
Some other highlights of 2023 were the addition of the Remote Pick-Up Lockers, giving patrons access to holds and materials 24/7, and the introduction of the GPL App for easy access to library e-materials and the ability to reserve holds all in one place.
GPL Rings in the New Year
This year, GPL looks forward to further partnership with The Greenburgh Nature Center to create a Storywalk® for the Nature Center grounds. A Storywalk® consists of children’s storybook pages adhered to signposts along a trail. As you stroll down the pathway, the viewer is guided to the next page in the story. The Library will also be engaging in some building maintenance beginning this Spring. The front entrance canopy will undergo rehabilitation to help mitigate the leaks in the Library vestibule. Restoration of the back retaining wall is also scheduled to commence this year. Work on the retaining wall will help the Library prepare for an upcoming outdoor patio space renovation. Once this work is complete, the Library hopes to open an outdoor patio and garden for programming and patron access. In part, these three projects are being supported by NY State grant funding and Greenburgh Library Guild donations.
Happy 2024, and may your New Year include more time to read!

Streaming promised limitless content but hit snags with contracts, pulled titles and price hikes. In essence, the need for physical media persists, and Greenburgh Public Library supports it, purchasing and circulating physical media such as DVDs, Blu-ray, audio CDs, and audiobooks. Fostering lifelong learning and engagement is a part of GPL's Strategic Plan, which includes increasing access and equity to content. To bridge streaming and physical media, GPL now circulates 4 Blu-Ray/DVD players and 4 CD/DVD Drives for a Windows or Mac computer, ensuring diverse access to all our patrons.
Thanks to the Friends of Greenburgh Library, GPL patrons can borrow a
Blu-Ray/DVD player from the library for up to two weeks. These Blu-ray/DVD players are small, portable, lightweight, and have everything you need to watch on your TV. And the process is simple, too - plug in the required cables, change the input on your TV, and pop in the disc of your choice. If you prefer to watch on your computer, GPL patrons can reserve an external CD/DVD drive for up to three weeks. External CD/DVD drives are portable and plug-and-play. No additional software is required to use one of our devices.
