Do you have suggestions for teen programs? Want to have a say in what books and materials your library orders? Do you need service hours? Then the Teen Advisory Board might be for you! We want teens in our community to feel heard and have a voice, so join us at a TAB meeting not only for fun and some snacks, but to have input on the teen programs and activities the Holbrook Public Library provides. Wed, Nov 2, 2022 -- Stained Glass Poppy Votive Candle Holder at 11:30 AM
In honor of Veterans' Day, we will be crafting a "Stained Glass" Poppy Votive Candle Holder. Using colored tissue paper, each crafter will create their own design for a field of poppies to decoupage a votive candle holder. A led battery operated tealight candle will be provided for use with the candle holder. Ages 13 and up are invited to attend. Registration is required. Limit of 25 people. If supplies remain, Grab and Go kits will be available after November 3, 2022.

Knit Or Knot Do you knit or crochet? Interested in learning how? Drop in to the Holbrook Public Library during our New weekly Knit or Knot hours! Every Wednesday from 3:30pm-5pm and every Saturday from 10:30am to 12pm, we are inviting all beginner and experienced fiber art crafters to stop by with your current project or to start a new project while spending time with fellow crafters. Share your work, learn new stitches, enjoy some conversation! Open to ages 16 and up. Bring your own supplies and we will provide a sampling of our Fiber Crafting books.

Fri, Nov 4, 2022 -- Spice Of The Month Club at 9:30 AM Love cooking? Intrigued by the idea of trying a new spice but, don't want to buy an entire jar? We have the solution for you! On the first Friday of every month, we will sample a new spice. Each spice kit will include a recipe, a measured portion of the spice, and a book recommendation! Pick up your kit, try out the recipe, and let us know what you thought of the spice. Share a photo of your completed dish on our FB or Instagram page... write a review to share with other chefs...we want to hear from you!
November's spice is : Ras El Hanout, a spice mix widely used in Moroccan, Tunisian, and Algerian cooking
Registration is required to reserve your kit. After one week, remaining kits will be available for non registered guests.

Dino-vember has arrived at Holbrook Public Library! November's Friday Movie Matinees will feature all things dinosaurs in celebration of these historic creatures. Join us on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 12pm for our screening of the classic JURASSIC PARK (1993, PG-13, 127 minute runtime). Based on MIchael Crichton's novel, genetically engineered dinosaurs take over a Theme Park. A paleoentologist, a paleobotanist, and a mathematician must find a way to save the day. Snacks will be provided. Ages 18 and up are invited to attend. Registration is not required but is encouraged.

Did you know that every November, the holiday, Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead is celebrated by people of Mexican heritage? This holiday tradition is typically observed on November 1 and 2 and is a celebration of family and friends who have died. You may have seen the Calaveras, also know as sugar skulls, which are used as decorations and as edible treats during the holiday. Calaveras are just one way that this tradition is celebrated.
Join us on Saturday November 5, 2022 at 10:30am, as we watch the movie "COCO" and explore this Holiday tradition. Attendees will get a Take & Go Kit for an at home craft.

(Bring Your Own Book) Club were each month, we will explore a new genre and each reader gets to choose their own book from that genre! On the third Tuesday of the month, we will meet and discuss our choices, share recommendations (or criticisms), and choose the next month's genre.

Did you know that after plain water, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world? With the vast array of tea varietals, herbals, and botanicals, there is always a new tea to try and HPL will help you do just that with our new Tea Of The Month Club!
On the third Tuesday of every month, we will sample a new variety of tea. Each Tea Kit will include brewing instructions, a portion of tea to brew one cup, and a book recommendation! Pick up your kit, brew your tea and enjoy! November's Tea of the Month: Maghrebi Mint which is a green tea that is popular in North African countries, the Arab world, and the Middle East.

In recognition of Native American Heritage Month, Holbrook Public Library will be screening the documentary GATHER (2020, 1hour 14min).
GATHER explores the growing movement of native peoples who are working to reconnect with their spiritual and cultural traditions that have been lost over time and through genocide. The stories of Indigenous chefs, farmers, and scientists who are reclaiming ancient foodways, agricultural knowledge, and environmental protections are featured in this moving film.

Did hosting Thanksgiving dinner leave you with extra plastic utensils? Don't just throw those things away! Instead, Join our DIY Spoon Candle Holder Craft Workshop and learn how to make use of items that would normally just go to waste. We will be making a pair of colorful votive candle holders.
We supply all of the needed materials. You simply need to register to let us know that you will be joining us!
Space is limited to 20 attendees ages 18 and up are invited to attend
