McFarland Community Festival |

The library will once again be at the heart of the action for this year's festival! Enjoy live music, carnival rides, food & beverages, kids tent, vendor marketplace, a parade, and more. Please note our parking lot will be closed Friday, September 27th - Monday, September 30th.

Find great bargains on fabulous used books & DVDs for all ages. Open until 7:00 on Thursday and bag sale on Saturday. Tote bags, pie plates and mugs are also for sale. All proceeds benefit our library. |

50-50 Raffle Fundraiser

Support the library by participating in the Friends of McFarland Library 50-50 Raffle Fundraiser! Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 and are available at the library. Winner will be drawn on September 30th at 9:30 AM, need not be present to win. All proceeds benefit our library. |

Watch a salamander eat, debunk turtle myths, touch snakes, and more! See a tiger salamander, native turtles, native snakes, and exotic reptiles including a large boa constrictor. Time is reserved after the presentation to touch and hold the reptiles for a truly hands-on experience!

Join local historian Ron Larson on a walking tour of the McFarland historical landmarks. Learn about the significance of these properties, the people connected to them, and how they contributed to our community's distinctive character. Registration is required and will open September 13th.

| Celebrate and learn how to protect your right to read during Banned Books Week September 22-28. The American Library Association documented an unprecedented 4,240 unique book titles targeted for censorship at public and school libraries in 2023, a 65% increase over 2022. The number of titles targeted for censorship at public libraries increased by 92% over the previous year, accounting for about 46% of all book challenges in 2023. Before 2021, the average number of titles targeted was 273.

Locke Public Library is to provide high quality materials and services to fulfill the informational, recreational, educational, and cultural needs of the entire community in an atmosphere that is welcoming and respectful.
