Jellyfish Craft

It’s ocean week, so we HAD to feature our friends from under the sea - Jellyfish! We will be creating our own jellyfish out of just paper plates and streamers!
This craft is geared to children 5 and up.

Nature Show-N-Tell

Wednesday, August 7th at 11 A.M.

Have you ever touched a real shark’s tooth, a giant starfish or a seahorse? Diane will bring in her collection of sea creatures and shells from her SCUBA diving adventures. Do you have a favorite object you found outside in the natural world?  Bring it in for our summer reading Show-N-Tell. You also get to make your very own sea coral craft to bring home!

This event is geared towards children aged 5 and up.

Tuesday, August 13th at 11 A.M.

Join us for an enchanting Owl Encounter program in partnership with Mass Audubon! You'll have the chance to explore a captivating collection of owl-related biofacts, making this an engaging and educational experience for nature enthusiasts of all ages.
This event is for patrons of all ages.

Tuesday, August 20th at 1 P.M.

Come and choose your own craft! The summer reading theme of, “Read, Renew, Repeat” inspired us to make use of all of our craft supplies! We will be putting out crafts from years past, or even weeks past! So, if you missed a craft - stop on by and you may just be able to make one! We have all different kinds of crafts for you to choose from - from making your own t-shirts to coloring sheets, there will be something for everyone!

This craft is geared towards children ages 5 and up.

Heat Mapping 

Wednesday, August 21st at 12 P.M.

Have you ever wondered why some outdoor spaces feel so hot during the summer and even on really hot days, how some areas are able to stay cool? Join Manomet Education Manager, Clare Cunningham, to explore the relationship between different surfaces and how they absorb heat!

This program is for children 5 and up, and a guardian.

Ocean Magazine Mosaic

August 16th at 12 P.M.

Come and celebrate our oceans by making a collage out of recycled materials! We will be using magazines to piece together our own ocean scenes. Be sure to bring your creativity - the possibilities are endless!

This craft is for teens in grades 6-12.

Felted Otter Craft

August 8th at 5:30 P.M.

Create a fuzzy and playful otter clutching a real seashell in its paws. Learn the joy of needle felting with Pop up Art School in a friendly environment. You'll gain the basic skills of needle felting, walking away with a finished piece, a foam block, needles, and the confidence to continue your felting journey independently.
This craft is for adults aged 18 and up.

Summer is nearing a close, and that means summer reading is, too! Stop by the Avon Public Library to sign up for our summer reading program, before its too late! This years theme is Read, Renew, Repeat, and we will be discussing all things nature and how to care for our planet! At the end of the summer we will reward all of your hard work with an ice cream party & prizes!
