Massachusetts South Shore Woodturners -Demo

We are excited to welcome back the Massachusetts South Shore Woodturners for a presentation and demonstration. The group president will provide a brief introduction about who the Massachusetts South Shore Woodturners are and what they create. Using lathes, group members Jeff Keller and Ken Whiting will demonstrate how to turn wooden tops. They will also give away the wooden tops made at the demo.

Pizza dinner will start at 5:30pm - feel free to bring a side dish to share. Film starts at 5:45pm.

This craft will be available for pick up at the main circulation desk from July 15 to 20 while supplies last!


This craft is intended for Teens. Adults and Children are welcome to sign up, but children will need assistance in assembly.

Shark Week: Documentary Night, Saving Jaws

Ocean Ramsey attributes her unparalleled connection with sharks to over a decade of research, but many are convinced it is something more... The media has dubbed her "The Shark Whisperer". Battling a looming extinction, Ocean and her team of marine biologists will travel the globe for 12 months, conducting research and expanding their conservation efforts. From renowned scientists and PHDs, to elite athletes and celebrities, "The Shark Whisperer" will lead humans from all walks of life out of their element and into the deep... free-diving with some of the worlds most dangerous sharks. Her goal: To give the world the opportunity to see sharks the way she does.

What can you make with recycled materials? Drop in weekly during the summer to this open-ended craft program and use your imagination! We'll have all sorts of recycled material, and you're welcome to bring your own. Dress for mess just in case. For children ages 6 and up. This program will meet through August 6.

Join storyteller Davis Bates for a participatory program of songs and stories celebrating the 2024 Summer Program Reading Theme. Hear how a coyote got his howl, about a brave parrot, and sing to a dancing wooden dog named Bingo. Family stories, sea stories, sing-alongs, spoon playing & more! Join us in welcoming Ruo Li as she works towards her gold award for Girl Scouts. During her presentation of The Power of Music she will educate those in attendance on the power of music and how it can bring joy and happiness to people. This presentation will talk about the parts of the cello and how each note sounds.


This program is for anyone interested in trying new instruments, learning new skills or simply wanting to learn facts you might not know about the cello. During this program if there is time Ruo will also demonstrate and teach the basic notes of the cello.
