VIRTUAL: Leading Men with Author Christopher Castellani

Go behind the scenes of Christopher Castellani's critically acclaimed novel, Leading Men, which dramatizes the tempestuous relationship between Tennessee Williams, his longtime partner Frank Merlo, and their protégé, an aspiring Swedish actress named Anja Bloom. The book is currently being adapted to film by the producer-director team that made Call Me By Your Name.

Dinner and a Movie: L'immensità

Clara (Penélope Cruz) and Felice struggle to raise their three children in 1970s Rome. The eldest, Andrew, is transgender and yearns for another life where he gets to live as the boy he knows himself to be. Clara instinctively strives to protect her son by escaping into their imaginations to defuse family tensions. L'immensità is a creative and moving film about growing up and breaking the mold.

Pizza dinner will start at 5:30pm - feel free to bring a side dish to share. The film starts at 5:45pm.

VIRTUAL: LGBTQ+ Inclusion 101

Knowledge can empower individuals to make cultural change. This program encourages individuals at all levels of understanding to learn about what it means to be LGBTQ+ and how to be stronger allies so our entire community feels welcome to be their authentic selves.

Virtual: Magical Girls and Fighting Dreamers: A Queer Representation in Manga and Anime

We are thrilled to be partnering with the Morrill Memorial Library in Norwood for this fantastic program! Join fellow anime-enthusiast and MML Youth Services Librarian Dina Delic to learn about the history of queer representation in manga and anime! This program will give an overview of queer representation throughout various series, from The Rose of Versailles to Yuri on Ice, and will answer your most pressing questions: What is shipping? What is the difference between yaoi and yuri? Why are the greatest love stories in anime always platonic?

NPL Evening Book Group: The Song of Achilles

VIRTUAL: 1969 Stonewall Rebellion

Join author Milo Todd on Zoom as he discusses the Stonewall Rebellion, a grassroots movement that sparked LGBTQ+ rights across the country.

Note: This session includes mention of transphobia, racism, police brutality, slurs, murder, sexual assault, and misgendering/deadnaming.

NHS Traveling Art Show 

The Traveling Art Show reception will showcase 30-40 beautifully framed pieces of art selected as winners from the Fine Arts Festival at NHS.

Winners are students who attend Norwell Public High School and Middle Schools.

NPL Plant Swap

Meet us outside in the staff parking area where we will have tables set up for the swap.

Participants are invited to leave a plant and take a plant. Indoor/outdoor plants, cuttings, divisions, and even seeds are welcome.

Drop In Summer Solstice Doodle Craft

The summer solstice is on Thursday, June 20! Celebrate this week of long days by filling a sun with zentangle-style doodles, then coloring it a sunny shade! This is a drop in program running the whole week while supplies last. Caregivers are to remain in the children's library. Best for ages 5 and up, but all are welcome (littles might need some caregiver help).

Recycle Lab

What can you make with recycled materials? Drop in weekly during the summer to this open-ended craft program and use your imagination! We'll have all sorts of recycled material, and you're welcome to bring your own. Dress for mess just in case. For children ages 6 and up. This program will meet through August 6.

Crayon Melting Art

Join the YA librarian in creating melted crayon art. These art masterpieces are made by gluing crayons onto canvas and melting them with a hair dryer until they run down the canvas. You can also paint on the canvas before the gluing and melting process if you wanted to add even more to these master pieces.
