Library Director Judy McConarty Announces Her Retirement

Congratulations, Judy!

It is with a mixture of emotions that the Trustees of Norwell Public Library announce the retirement of Director Judy McConarty. We are delighted for her as she pursues the next chapter in her life, but we deeply regret the loss of her incomparable leadership, patience and sense of community. She guided NPL through several years of tremendous change as she balanced both the Director’s responsibilities and her commitment to building a new library facility.  Judy’s calm demeanor and sense of humor helped keep both the Library Study Committee and Building Committee focused on completion of the project. It is not easy in the best of times to work two full-time jobs of building a new library and managing the existing facility, but she accomplished this feat during a pandemic with grace and good humor.
Thank you Judy, for all that you have given to Norwell. The new Library is a testament to your persistence and dedication.

Judy’s retirement is effective at the end of December, but her last day of active service in NPL will be November 19. We hope that residents, family and friends will visit NPL during November to wish her well and sign a farewell guest book. If you would like to participate in a gift for Judy, we invite you to make a financial donation to the Friends of Norwell Public Library in her honor. Checks may be made payable to Friends of NPL and sent to PO Box 955, Norwell, MA 02061 or left at the circulation desk at the Library.
