Bridgewater Triangle and Its Hauntings

Tim Weisberg is the host and co-creator of Spooky Southcoast, one of the world’s longest-running radio programs on the topic of the paranormal. In addition to his radio work, Tim also serves as the Paranormal Editor at UltimateUnexplained.com, a website covering the paranormal and true crime. Teens and adults welcome.

Friends of NPL Fall Pop-Up Book Sale

The Friends of the Norwell Public Library are having a pop-up book sale Saturday, October 21 from 12-2pm. There will be a Halloween-themed story time with Skipper (the therapy dog), crafts, and face painting.

All proceeds from the sale fund our library's wonderful programming. No registration necessary. We hope to see you there!

Halloween Movie Night: Ghostbusters

Join us in watching Ghostbusters! Fun snacks, candy and water will be provided to those in attendance of the event. 

Synopsis: A group of unemployed parapsychologists go into business as professional ghost neutralizers. But when New York City comes under attack from a host of supernatural demons, the self-proclaimed Ghostbusters must step up and save the world from the sinister 'Zuul.'

Baby Play Group

Meet new parents in a space with age appropriate toys for ages 0-12 months.  Registration required.

Storytime with Marissa

Ages 0-5 are welcome to join Marissa for 30 minutes of stories, participatory songs, and fingerplays that support early literacy. Registration is required. Please sign up for each week you are interested in attending. 

Spooky Bones & Creepy Crawlies

Just in time for Halloween, explore real bones and skeletons from endemic Massachusetts animals, or hold and pet some of the biggest bugs you've ever seen! What separates vertebrates from invertebrates? How are their bodies similar? How are they different? What scientific secrets do these insides hide? For kids ages 4-12. Registration required.

STEM Playgroup with SSCAC

Join the South Shore Community Action Council for a STEM-focused playgroup for ages 3-5 with caregiver. Explore the world around you through science, technology, engineering, and math with every day activities. Registration is required through the SSCAC website here: www.sscac.org/ssfn-events

A Teen Book Club for Grades 6 to 12! This month we will be reading Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé.

Usually this book club meets on the last Tuesday of the month. Due to Halloween falling on said Tuesday, we will instead be meeting the week before on 10/24. Thank you!!

Norwell 10 Objects and Annual Meeting: Norwell Historical Society

Join the Norwell Historical Society for a celebration of the new NPL exhibit “The History of Norwell in 10 Objects.” Historian Stephen O’Neill will discuss each object—from indigenous artifacts to a Gilded Age jacket—and explain why they were specifically chosen to illustrate change over time. (Time includes brief members meeting at 5:30pm) 

South of Boston Board Game Meetup

The Norwell Public Library is excited to host the  South of Boston Board Game Meetup  on Saturday from 10:00am - 4:00 pm. The group began as an inclusive community of board gamers in the South Shore area and beyond!

Bring a game to swap with other attendees. This free event is open to junior high aged teens and adults of all ages. No registration required.

Young Frankenstein is a 1974 American comedy horror film directed by Mel Brooks. The screenplay was co-written by Brooks and Gene Wilder.

Synopsis: An American grandson of the infamous scientist Dr. Frankenstein struggles to prove that his grandfather was not as insane as people believe. He is invited to Transylvania where he discovers the process that reanimates a dead body.

Pizza dinner will start at 5:30pm. Feel free to bring a side dish to share. The film starts at 5:45pm.

Mindful Yoga for Everyone (now twice a month!)

Mindfulness practices based on the 7 attitudes from Jon Kabat-Zinn are woven throughout the class to facilitate the connection of the mind, breath, body, and spirit. All levels are welcome, with a focus on beginners and advanced beginners. 

All you need is an open mind, yoga mat, and a towel or blanket (to roll for support as needed), and water.

VIRTUAL: An Evening with Author Melissa Lozada-Oliva and her Novel Candelaria

Melissa Lozada-Oliva is the child of Guatemalan and Colombian immigrants and the author of Dreaming of You and Peluda. Her work has been featured in NPR, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, PAPER, Armani Beauty, and more. She is a member of the band Meli and the Specs. She holds an MFA in poetry from NYU and lives in New York City.

Take a break from the stress of life and relax with a therapy dog, Skipper. All ages welcome!

No registration is required. 

Felted Bee: Cute Little Owl (Craft)

Come learn to needle felt wool into a cute little owl.

Needle felting is an addictive art that uses a sharp barbed needle to turn fluffy wool into dense shapes. All supplies are included and you get to bring them home with you.

No experience necessary, registration limited to teens (12 +) and adults.

Sourdough Starter Workshop with Sourdough Brandon

Sourdough Brandon will be showing us how to make, maintain, and store a sourdough starter- get expert advice from a sourdough baker and food blogger. You’ll leave with many tips and tricks on how to keep your sourdough starter active, what to make with your starter, and even leave with some free sourdough starter! Adults and teens welcome.

Make Halloween Cards

Halloween is coming! Create fun handmade cards to send to family or friends. Learn how to make gate folding cards. All cards and Halloween collage images are provided. No art experience is needed!

Guiding Eyes for the Blind

Volunteer puppy raisers from Guiding Eyes for the Blind will present on what it's like to raise and train a future guide dog. The public will be able to interact with the puppies and participate in some training activities. No registration required, feel free to drop in at any point throughout the morning.

In celebration of Banned Books Week, this month we will be reading Maus I & II by Art Spiegelman.
