Tom O'Carroll Presents A Concert of Irish Songs and Stories

Tom O’Carroll has been singing the songs and playing the tunes of his native Ireland for over 30 years. He enlivens these programs with his trademark humor and incredible stock of stories and anecdotes.This event is co-sponsored by the Mass Cultural Council and the Friends of the Norwell Public Library.

Meet new parents in a space with age appropriate toys for ages 0-12 months.  Registration required.

Storytime with Marissa

Ages 0-5 are welcome to join Marissa for 30 minutes of stories, participatory songs, and fingerplays that support early literacy. Registration is required. Please sign up for each week you are interested in attending. 

Read to Wally

Drop by the Children's Studio to meet and read to Wally, a Rhodesian Ridgeback! He is very patient and has very soft ears. This is a first come, first served event. Caregivers to remain in Children's Library.

Take and Make: Tiny Art Show

Register for your kit to make a tiny masterpiece to return to the library for our Tiny Art Show! For ages 8 and up. Art should be returned to the library for the exhibit by Thursday, April 25. More details will be included in your kit.

Mama Steph returns to Norwell for her ever-popular kids concert! For children up to age 5 with caregiver. Registration required.

Drop In Painting for Tiny Art Show

Bring your Tiny Art Show kit to the library and spend some time working on your piece with our paints! If you don't have a Tiny Art Show kit, you may drop by and see if we have any extra canvas for you. This program is for ages 8 and up. More info about the Tiny Show will be available at the painting drop in events. No registration required, while supplies last. Dress for mess just in case!

Drop In Earth Day Frog Craft

April 22 is Earth Day, so we're celebrating early! Drop by to make your own green frog from a paper plate, while supplies last. Instructions will be available in the Children's Studio, caregivers are to remain with/assist children. Dress for mess just in case!

Teen Advisory Group (TAG!)

Calling all Teens!! Join the Norwell Public Library TAG (Teen Advisory Group) and receive teen volunteer hours. During TAG meetings, there will be further discussion on teen programming, the teen room space, and more. 

Registration is strongly suggested. Snacks and Switch Games will be provided to those who attend! 

Take and Make: Paper Hyacinths

This month's take and make is a Paper Hyacinths Craft. Those who register will have their craft kits put to the side for pick up at the circulation desk. This craft is intended for Teens. Adults and Children are welcome to sign up, but children will need assistance in assembly. Pick up your kit at the main circulation desk starting April 22 to April 27.

If you will not be able to make the pick up window please call the front desk to allow others the chance to receive the craft!

Calling all teen gamers! Join us for the Video Games Club here at Norwell Public Library. Every month we will select from a group of switch games to play together ranging from Mariokart to Cuphead. If there's a special game you wish to see on the list be sure to tell Brooke the Teen Librarian. Must be rated E, E10+ or T to be accepted. This program is for grades 6th to 12th. Snacks will be provided to those in attendance!

There are so many myths and legends surrounding native plants it can sometimes be difficult to separate truth from lore. Come learn about native plant "myths" and why they are harmful to our cause.

Felted Bee: 

Make a Llama

Come learn to needle felt wool into a cute little llama. Needle felting is an addictive art that uses a sharp barbed needle to turn fluffy wool into dense shapes. All supplies are included and you get to bring them home with you.

No experience necessary, registration limited to teens (12 +) and adults.

Artist Talk: Lena Andrade

Come meet artist Lena Andrade to hear about her art and process and view her amazing photos many which document her  Cape Verdean, Cape Verde American culture. Lena's photos will be on display in the meeting room for the month of April.

Mindful Yoga for Everyone 

Mindfulness practices based on the 7 attitudes from Jon Kabat-Zinn are woven throughout the class to facilitate the connection of the mind, breath, body, and spirit. All levels are welcome, with a focus on beginners and advanced beginners. 

Dinner and a Movie: Kiss The Ground

Kiss the Ground reveals that by regenerating the world’s soils, we can completely and rapidly stabilize Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems and create abundant food supplies.

Pizza dinner will start at 5:30pm - feel free to bring a side dish to share.

The film starts at 5:45pm ending the night with a short discussion after the film.

We will be discussing how to minimize or eliminate food wastage in your family, especially with kids. Sarah will have all kinds of ideas to take baby steps to save, use, or compost food scraps so none (or little) goes into landfills! All ages are welcome.
