NPL Movie Discussion Group Wednesday, June 1 6:30pm - 7:30pm Meeting Room
The Norwell Public Library Movie Discussion Group will be having its fifth meeting and discussion session this month. The film we'll be discussing is the 2013 black and white comedy-drama film Frances Ha.
Synopsis: Greta Gerwig is radiant as Frances, a woman in her late twenties in contemporary New York trying to sort out her ambitions, her finances, and, above all, her intimate but shifting bond with her best friend, Sophie (Mickey Sumner). Meticulously directed by Noah Baumbach with a free-and-easy vibe reminiscent of the French New Wave’s most spirited films, and written by Baumbach and Gerwig with an effortless combination of sweetness and wit, Frances Ha gets at both the frustrations and the joys of being young and unsure of where to go next. This wry and sparkling city romance is a testament to the ongoing vitality of independent American cinema. |

Tai Chi at the Library Classes are held on Tuesdays from 11am - 12 noon in the Meeting Room. For June 7th and 14th Tai Chi will be held 12 noon - 1pm due to the change in the library's open hours those weeks. Beginners are welcome. Wear loose comfortable clothing. Registration is required and opens two weeks before each class. Funded by the Friends of the Norwell Public Library. Donations to the Friends are greatly appreciated. |

The Rise of a True Crime Podcast “All Rise with Diane Godfrey and Jordan Rich” Wednesday, June 8 6:30pm - 7:30pm Meeting Room The library is hosting an exciting evening event with podcasters Diane Godfrey and Jordan Rich from the Massachusetts-based true-crime podcast, All Rise. Jordan Rich explains what a podcast is, how a podcast is made, and how he and Diane Godfrey came together as cohosts. Diane Godfrey will discuss her 30-plus year career as a court reporter in the courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, along with her experiences as a podcast cohost. |

Literary Circle Book Discussion Group Thursday, June 16th 12:00pm - 1:00pm Meeting Room Are trees social beings? In The Hidden Life of Trees forester and author Peter Wohlleben convincingly makes the case that, yes, the forest is a social network. He draws on groundbreaking scientific discoveries to describe how trees are like human families: tree parents live together with their children, communicate with them, support them as they grow, share nutrients with those who are sick or struggling, and even warn each other of impending dangers.
