Norwell Public Library News
May 2021
From the Director
Hello friends!

I hope you are well and enjoying the spring weather. I am pleased to report that the Library Building Project is almost complete! We moved into the new building during the week of April 12th. Since then, the NPL staff has been very busy getting the new library ready to resume services. The collection is on the shelves, technology installations are underway and a punch list of building and site issues is being addressed by various contractors.

We know everyone is looking forward to seeing Norwell's beautiful new library, which is sure to be a source of community pride, not to mention a valuable resource for years to come. After a ceremonial ribbon cutting on June 10th (by invitation due to COVID), all are welcome to tour the library during Open House Days to be held on Friday, June 11th and Saturday, June 12th.

On behalf of the Norwell Public Library Trustees and Staff, we look forward to seeing you soon!

Judy McConarty, Director

In a secondhand vehicle she christens 'Van Halen,' Jessica Bruder hits the road to get to know her subjects more intimately. Accompanying Linda May and others from campground toilet cleaning to warehouse product scanning to desert reunions, Bruder tells a compelling, eye-opening tale of the dark underbelly of the American economy--one that foreshadows the precarious future that may await many more of us. At the same time, she celebrates the exceptional resilience and creativity of these quintessential Americans who have given up ordinary rootedness to survive.
