Robyn Thompson-Duong: Meet the Artist

Magical realism, beauty and love of color, Robyn Thompson-Duong’s work evokes pride in black culture and the spirit of femininity. Drawing inspiration from art history, Robyn’s work deals with challenging the societal perceptions and stereotypes of Black femininity and beauty by depicting women of color as Mother Goddess, grand, graceful, and beautiful. Thompson-Duong’s work seeks to re-appropriate the Black female image and what it means to be a woman of color.

Norwell Public Library is joining the MBLC (Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners) in their week long Statewide Read-In Event to celebrate our Freedom to Read!! All ages welcome. Simply find a comfy spot in the library or join us in the WorkShop and read! The library will be providing light refreshments!

Halloween Clay Bobbleheads

Hand build a spooky character using air dry clay and add finishing touches with acrylic paint. Pop Up Art School will show you how to pinch and shape the clay into the character of your choice. The completed figure has a head that can swivel in any direction! For ages 8 to adults, registration is required.

Mindfulness practices based on the 7 attitudes from Jon Kabat-Zinn are woven throughout the class to facilitate the connection of the mind, breath, body, and spirit. All levels are welcome, with a focus on beginners and advanced beginners.

VIRTUAL: How NASA Is Combating Climate Change

Learn about the efforts of NASA researchers who are currently examining Earth to understand climate change, storms, fires, and where people fit in to all of it, including an active mission studying climate change in northern regions of the world (e.g., Alaska and Canada). Led by Dr. Elizabeth Hoy, PhD, who has been a NASA scientist for over 10 years with the NASA Carbon Cycle and Ecosystems Office and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

Literary Circle Book Group: Beartown

This month we will be reading Beartown by Fredrik Backman.


Beartown is a 2017 novel by Fredrik Backman. It is set in the eponymous town and focuses on the local junior hockey team. Set against the backdrop of a depressed town that is obsessed with the sport, it examines themes of parental control, the cost of keeping secrets, loyalty, family, and regret.
