HOLIDAY CLOSURES

The library will be closed  Friday, November 10th in observance of Veteran's Day. We will close at 4:30pm on Wednesday, November 22nd and will be closed Thursday November 23rd and Friday November 24th for Thanksgiving.

The New England Irish Harp Orchestra returns on Saturday, December 2nd at the Heights Community Center! More details to come.


A WALK BACK IN TIME: THE SECRETS OF

CELLAR HOLES

Northern New England is full of reminders of past lives: stone walls, old foundations, a century-old lilac struggling to survive as the forest reclaims a once-sunny dooryard. On Tuesday, December 5th Adair Mulligan will explore the rich story to be discovered in what remains behind. More details to come.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Amy R.

Amy and her family have lived in Concord for almost 9 years, moving up here from Texas. She enjoys reading, walking, and trying a new adventure every year.  Learning to ski with her daughter this past year was a highlight! Her favorite book genres are historical fiction, humor, spiritual, and mystery. She is currently reading The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah and The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman.  

Library Create & Sip: Fall Gnome


Monday, November 6th at 5:30pm in the Blanchard Room

Create a fall gnome door hanger using burlap, leaves and hot glue. Apple cider will be provided. Adults 18+ years only.  Class is limited to 16 and registration is required.

Traditional Storyteller Anne Jennison


Tuesday November 14th at 6pm via Zoom

Join us via Zoom for an evening of timeless Northeast Woodlands Abenaki stories with storyteller, Anne Jennison. Jennison is the current Chair for the NH Commission on Native American Affairs and a member of the Indigenous NH Collaborative Collective.

Wind, Water, Fire and Ice: Extreme Weather
Impacts on NH Trees and Forests


Wednesday, November 15th at 6pm at the Main Library

Join us in person or via Zoom as Dave Anderson discusses how agricultural clearing affected the forest composition of the second and third-growth forests returning to post-agrarian New Hampshire, and also the transformation of the White Mountains and Central Lakes Region following the heavy logging of the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Please join us on our new day, Thursdays, for Books and Brew! This is a low-pressure book club at the Heights Branch Library. Chat about what you've been reading, and listen to suggestions and recommendations from other readers. There are no assigned books in this group; just come and share your latest reads! Library staff will be on hand to take notes and share the group's recommendations on the library website.

Can you believe it's almost over? The second year of Ultimate Book Nerd is nearing the end. Let's get together on Saturday, November 18th to discuss what we've been reading and the categories you would like to see for the 2024 challenge.
