Happy Summer everyone! As you all know the library is now open, but Project Literacy is still running as an online program. No updates for in-person tutoring yet, but hopefully soon! Check your email for a survey about online tutoring or in-person tutoring preferences as we start to offer more in-person services.
In other news, we received funding for the 2021-2022 year (yay!) and we will have a new part-time program assistant soon!
If you need tutoring support or have questions, you can email Alex or call Alex at the Project Literacy Office, 510-577-3944. Please note that the Project Literacy Office phone number does not accept text messages.
Are you interested in meeting with other tutors to share ideas? Would you like to discuss challenges and successes you are experiencing? Project Literacy is planning it's 1st Tutor Roundtable meeting for July 2021 (on Zoom). We would like to hear your thoughts and preferred meeting times. Please click here to fill out our Tutor Roundtable Planning response.
Our tutor resource spotlight of the season is ProLiteracy's quarterly adult educator publication, Notebook. Notebook contains helpful activities and tips for online tutoring. Click here to view past issues of Notebook.
Monthly Meeting Report Reminder
Just a friendly reminder to fill out and/or submit your Monthly Meeting Reports. Our end-of-year report to the California State Library is coming due and we need to know your tutoring hours!
Learner Highlights & Stories
Hey Learners and Tutors! We need your stories!
We'd like to add learner highlights to our Project Literacy Newsletters. Tutors and learners can write about learner success stories, learner backgrounds, tutoring experiences, what you are reading or watching, what learners are working on, your favorite recipes, or anything fun that you would like to share with everyone in Project Literacy.
Submit your writing to Alex at firstname.lastname@example.org. Your story might be featured in the next newsletter!
Free Children's Books for Family Literacy Learners
Learners, if you are the primary caregiver of at least one child between the ages of 0-14 then you qualify to receive free children's books through Project Literacy. We will have new books every other month.
