Serpent & Dove was a really fun read! The novel is set in a fictional kingdom called Belterra, which was inspired by 17th Century France. In this fantasy novel, a young witch named Louise must hide her true identity in the city of Cesarine, which is protected by religious witch hunters known as Chasseurs. After Lou gets back at a particularly infuriating Chasseur named Reid, she finds herself forced into a matrimonial union full of deception. When Lou's haunting past catches up to her, she must ask herself where Reid's loyalty truly lies. Magic, action, humour, forbidden romance - Shelby Mahurin's Serpent & Dove has it all. I couldn't wait to borrow the other books in the series! ~ Hartley
