A Message from the Library Director Dear Bristol Borough Community and Grundy Patrons, The Grundy Library is incredibly grateful for your ongoing support and patronage while our building is closed. While we understand that you are anxious for the library to reopen, due to circumstances beyond our control the Grundy Library building remains closed to the public. Our reopening date is undetermined at this time. As you are aware, the improvements on the Library building and grounds came to an abrupt halt last year with the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. Once the work could resume, significant progress was made on the overall construction project and the work continues to this day, but we have struggled with several challenges including weather-related setbacks, difficulty obtaining building materials, vendor issues due to low staffing, and other residual effects of the pandemic. These have all contributed to severe delays in project completion. While we know that you, like Library staff, are disappointed by the further postponement of the Library’s reopening, we are confident the project results will be worth the wait. Though the construction prevents us from opening the building and limits our ability to host outdoor programs, we hope to see and talk with you at upcoming community events in the upcoming months. Warm regards, Dana Barber

Discussion with Author John A. McCabe Wednesday, August 18 at 6:00 PM John A. McCabe, Bucks County resident and a lifelong writer in all genres, is an active member of the Writers Guild at the Pearl S. Buck Writing Center. Join us as we explore his story collections. Tracks Through Our Lives, published by The Pearl S. Buck Writing Center Press in 2019 and scheduled to be re-released in 2021, tells tales of remarkable characters and their bold friendships. Set along the route of the Philadelphia “El”, and subways, the stories accentuate the bonds of people in cities with transit systems anywhere in the world. He will be continuing the journey of Tracks with two sequels traveling farther into those urban lives on mass transit. McCabe is currently writing a pandemic play, Irrevocable. His soon-to-be released novel, The Girl in Japan: A Young Soldier’s Story, centers on his studies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and explores the complex relationship between American and Japanese lovers, both survivors of nuclear destruction. A virtual event via ZOOM. Registration is required.
