CanDOMore Season 4 Campaign:
Grundy Museum Project Announcement
Renovations financed solely by the Grundy Foundation transformed the Grundy Museum interior over two years beginning in 2019. Those on the exterior southside upper lawn, including restrooms and seating areas, and Margaret’s Garden are scheduled this year. Both projects are intended to restore luster to the Grundy house and to enhance this late-Victorian Era jewel.
You are invited to share in this transformation, designed to welcome back former guests and visitors. In addition, outreach is planned to new audiences acquainted with the opulence and social mores of the Era’s aristocracy. Join us in kicking off our CanDOMore Season 4 Campaign to enhance collections we are anxious to showcase to the public.
Our textile collections include items of Grundy family clothing. Much has never seen the light of day in over 50 years! The preventive (think maintenance) and interventive (think mitigation) conservation particularly of dresses owned by Mary or Margaret Grundy and an item of Joseph Grundy’s clothing are required to maintain them in perpetuity. Their display on archival mannequins will be must-see looks, and storage in archival encasements will maintain collections according to museum standard best practices.
Information and times for special thematic tours, collections conservation, and Victorian-inspired programs will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead.
