We have lots going on this month!

Girl with a Pink Shirt Reading a Blue Book in the Fort

Experience an unforgettable celebration of international diversity at the 2024 World Languages Festival and Market. This family-friendly event will be on Saturday, March 23rd from noon-3:00 pm. Explore vibrant exhibits, captivating music, and indulge in delicious global cuisine. There will family hands-on activities and crafts. As always, this event is free to attend and fun for the whole family.

This year, we are adding a fun festival market outside with a wide variety of items to charm and captivate youth. If you are a retail vendor or a food vendor, we still have a few openings left. Apply now to become a vendor at ww.mcallenlibrary.net/events/wlfmarket.

Join us for a very special event, the Night of Ideas, on Saturday, March 2. The event will begin at the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) with a gallery exhibit and curators’ talk at 3:00 pm. The event continues at McAllen Public Library at 5:00 pm with ongoing and concurrent speakers, artists, poets, dancers, and musicians with a variety of talks, art exhibits and performances, all on the theme of “Borderlands,” which aims to consider the complexities and strengths of our border community. Included in the Night of Ideas will be an art exhibition of paintings by Mark Clark. His collection is entitled, “Mi Vida Loca,” and it will be on display through May 2024. Exercise your imagination with an interactive art workshop and experience a different kind of vision with Virtual Reality. Families are welcome to attend and the event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. You can find the full schedule, here: https://nightofideas.org/mcallen-tx/schedule/

This event is in partnership between MPL, IMAS, Villa Albertine in Houston, Instituto Francés de América Latina, the Office for Science and Technology of the Embassy of France in the United States, the Consulate General of France in Houston, and the Consulate General of France in Monterrey.
