MPL Connect
                                  July 2022
From the Director:

Summer Reading Program 2022 is in full swing! We welcomed more than 750 attendees at our Kickoff party with the theme of “Oceans of Possibilities.” Families enjoyed free popcorn, lemonade and popsicles, inflatable slides, DJ and music, and a mobile basketball shooting unit. Little ones had fun “fishing” and coloring. There is still time to register for great program for all ages! The program runs through July 15th.  A reminder that all MPL locations will be closed on Monday, July 4th, but you can always visit our e-Branch at https://mcallenlibrary.net/books-more/e-branch/ to check out an e-book or e-audiobook from Libby or cloudLibrary, or stream from thousands of films by clicking on our Kanopy link. Stay safe and cool this holiday weekend. Happy Fourth of July to all!

Gender Failure by Ivan Coyote and Rae Spoon

"Ivan and Rae have written a magical, down-to-earth, painfully honest
step beyond any predetermined transgender narrative that I know of. At times hilarious,
at times heartbreaking, their storytelling is top-notch. This book is unputdownable."
―Kate Bornstein, author of A Queer and Pleasant Danger
