Be an Agent of Discovery! The National Recreation and Park Association has declared July as Park and Recreation Month. Calling local parks “the center of many experiences and memories” for many, these open spaces are often our first experience in nature or an introduction to a favorite hobby or activity. This summer, explore all of our open spaces! Experience Santa Clara County parks, along with other parks in the Bay Area in a new way. From now until August 31, participate in the Bay Area Explorer Campaign 2.0, where you can complete missions, learn about parks, and earn rewards. Special Virtual Event: Figmentally in Action Join us for a special virtual event for kids on Wednesday, July 21 at 3 p.m. Figmentally is an international theatrical circus comedy for all ages that will deliver giggles, smiles, and amazement. Join storybook characters Drea and Eric for a magical, funny, and acrobatic reading adventure. Register to participate through Zoom. Summer Olympic Games Begin This Week The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo begin this Friday. A year later than planned and with just the athletes and a few dignitaries attending, the event should still be memorable. More than 11,000 athletes from some 200 countries will compete in over 40 games, including fan favorites like gymnastics, swimming, volleyball, and basketball.
