Helping Kids Be Successful this School Year Kids are back in a school and it may be a big adjustment for them, whether its because they are in a new grade or a different environment. Each stage of parenting comes with its own challenges. Our librarians have created a booklist that can help parents and caregivers prepare their kids for kindergarten and support them through elementary, middle and high school.

Special Virtual Event: Takes on Shakes On Saturday, September 11, watch Takes on Romeo and Juliet, directed by Chris Steele. This features different interpretations of the balcony scene from the famous play: first, as we assume it should be played, followed by directorial ‘takes’ based on gender norms in the 16th, 19th and 21st centuries. You may find there is no “right way” to perform Shakespeare!

Summer Reading Prize Pickup We want to thank our participants who completed our Summer Reading program, Reading Colors Your World. Kids and teens who have read five books, completed an activity and logged it all can stop by their local SCCLD library and pick up a prize. Prizes are available now through August 31 while supplies last. Adults who have completed Summer Reading will be entered into a prize drawing to win an Amazon Kindle.
