Memorial Day is Monday, May 29 The unofficial start to summer is coming up – the Memorial Day Weekend is less than a week away. Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the service members who died serving in the Armed Forces. The online library offers Fold3, providing a growing collection of U.S. military records from the Revolutionary War to the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, including the stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served. Communities across the country mark the occasion with parades or decorating graves and memorials with wreaths, flags and flowers. Families tend to get together for the long weekend. Now that the weather is warmer, perhaps consider celebrating BBQ Month with these cookbooks. Others are spending the three-day weekend for some outdoor adventures. We have a number of trail guides available at the library. If you have plans to go boating, right now is National Safe Boating Week. Find safety reminders here. As a reminder, all SCCLD libraries will be closed and services unavailable on Memorial Day. Our Online Library is available whenever you need it. We will see you back on Tuesday, May 30.
