Happy Birthday, USA! The 4th of July is in two weeks. Let the library help you celebrate Independence Day! Find recipes with these cookbooks that are all about barbecuing. Also, discover hundreds of videos on Creativebug that can help you create the perfect festive atmosphere. The 4th of July commemorates the day when the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, declaring the American colonies free and independent states. The Library has a number of resources that can help you discover more about U.S. history. In addition to the nonfiction titles in our catalog, our free video streaming service Kanopy offers documentaries. Also visit our Online Library for research needs. We offer free resources like Gale Non-Fiction Reference Books, historical newspapers and military records. Our libraries will be closed and services unavailable on Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. We will see you back on Tuesday, July 5. Digital Magazines for Kids Our Online Library offers a number of free eResources for kids to keep them busy and learning during summer break. Check out our digital newsstands for current eMagazines popular with young readers. Overdrive offers an extensive educational eMagazine collection covering all interests and age ranges, from National Geographic to Highlights and Minecraft World. Explore Flipster to get instant access to other beloved kid's magazines including Zoobooks, Ranger Rick, and Sports Illustrated Kids.

Free Meals for Kids Meals are available at Morgan Hill Library (pick up in Program Room). Gilroy Library will begin service starting Tuesday, June 21 in the parking lot facing Wheeler Center. No registration is necessary. Meals are available Monday-Friday from 12 – 1 p.m. while supplies last.

Weekly Craft Kits for Teens This summer, the SCCLD Teen Services Librarians will be giving out weekly Grab & Go Craft Kits to local teens. Each bag will feature a different craft with instructions and supplies included. Create things like a constellation jar lamp, wooden bookmark or a paracord bracelet. All bags will be handed out on a first come, first served basis and for patrons ages 13-18.

Special Performance: Python Ron's Reptile Kingdom A fan-favorite performer is coming back to our libraries this summer! Python Ron’s Reptile Kingdom introduces kids and their families to bugs, snakes and reptiles. Learn some amazing facts about these critters at one of his shows. Join us on Wednesday, June 29 at 6 p.m. for a virtual cooking demonstration with instructor Vanessa Young. Explore techniques, flavor combinations and recipes for dinner and dessert. Grow a Bountiful Veggie GardenWe invite you to a special Master Gardeners virtual event on Saturday, June 25 at 2 p.m. Learn how to grow fresh produce in a natural habitat that welcomes beneficial insects. You’ll also learn how to manage pests big and small without pesticides. Not sure what to do with all of those vegetables once they are harvested? Find inspiration in these cookbooks.
