Join SCCLD's Read Woke Challenge

There's been a heightened awareness of social justice and empathy for those who have suffered oppression. In response, we are launching a new reading challenge called Read Woke.

Our librarians have created a number of booklists addressing an injustice, or featuring a protagonist from a disenfranchised or underrepresented group.

We are challenging patrons to read two books from any of these booklists and log them on Beanstack. People who complete the challenge will be entered to win a prize.

The Read Woke challenge runs through September 30.

Library Material Returns

Back in March when the County of Santa Clara implemented a shelter-in-place order due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Library decided it was best if patrons kept library materials until a time when it was safe for patrons to return them to the library. During that time, patrons did not incur fines for keeping the materials past their original due date.

Those items that were borrowed on July 10 or earlier are due on July 31. All items borrowed starting July 10 are subject to a 3 week borrowing period. In the coming days, we ask that patrons please return materials that are due to the library using our curbside service Monday through Saturday from 1pm - 5pm.

No appointment is needed to return library materials, but they can only be returned into the special library return bins during curbside service hours.

Some materials may be eligible for renewal which you can do online by logging into your account. Please visit our website or, if you need assistance, go to sccld.org/account-questions to reach us by phone, email or chat.
