A Look Back: 1910sAs we move along our historical timeline, we continue through the 1910s. Library operations were taken up by the Civic League, which later became the Falls Church Woman's Club. Black leaders in the community established the Colored Citizens Protective League and successfully sued to prevent a racially restrictive zoning ordinance from being enacted. The library changed locations several times throughout this decade. In 1919, the library moved to space in the former Congregational Church building on North Washington Street and Mary Riley Styles became Chairperson of the Library Committee of the Woman’s Club. You'll find more photos from this decade in our Falls Church History Room and you can learn more about our library's history online. We hope you'll follow us on Instagram (@littlecitylibrary) and Facebook so you don't miss our #ThrowbackThursday posts! Please help us celebrate by using #mrspl125years if you're sharing anything library-related on social media.
