Summer Challenge is back! It's the Library District’s fun, free activities and reading program, filled with prizes for kids of all ages. Be sure to join us for our big Summer Challenge Kickoff on Saturday, May 15 from
11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the East Las Vegas Library, located HERE.

This activity-filled kickoff event is designed for families with children from babies through grade 12. You will find something for everyone in this festival atmosphere, including: exciting prize giveaways from the Vegas Golden Knights and the Las Vegas Lights; DJ Naavi spinning tunes from the stage; balloon artists, freebies and crafts; a Kona Ice Truck; plus hands-on STEAM activities galore!

Summer Challenge: Here's How It Works
The Summer Challenge program runs from May 15 – July 31, 2021, and helps kids stay on track for school with reading whatever they like (even comic books!) and doing activities that foster learning.

Did we mention prizes? Here’s how kids can participate:
o   Book Prizes – Win a book each time they complete a
     Summer Challenge level.
o   Branch Grand Prizes – Enter for a chance to win grand prizes
at their branch when they complete all three Summer Challenge levels.
o   Super Reader 900-Volt Challenge – Complete extra reading time and
enter to win a #GetCarded library tote bag filled with an iPad mini, prizes
from the Vegas Golden Knights, the Las Vegas Lights, and more.
o   Social Media Prizes – Take a photo in your branch with our Robot banner,
or take a photo of their progress, and then share on social media for a
chance to win even more prizes, including a Vegas Golden Knights
Fanatics Jersey, a Las Vegas Lights Jersey, and more. Just tag @LVCCLD
on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and include #SummerChallenge.

Register now in library branches or at LVCCLD.org/SummerChallenge. Children will also receive Summer Challenge information through the Clark County School District this month.

It's a new month which means a new Vegas Golden Knights free collectible bookmark to pick up at your neighborhood branch! The Library District continues its partnership in literacy with the Vegas Golden Knights 2021 collectible player bookmark series. There is a new spotlighted player each month, and May features defenseman Brayden McNabb.

Our free Vegas Golden Knights bookmarks provide local hockey fans with little-known facts about players' favorite books, movies, and music. Fans can also connect with "Chance's Chat," an exclusive blog on the Library District website at LVCCLD.org/VGK where you can read Chance's interviews with each player and check out their favorite titles available from our collection!

Besides our VGK bookmarks, your library is bursting with wonderful, free, and fascinating things to discover and do. Stop by any branch during our convenient hours located HERE, or log in to our website at LVCCLD.org 24/7 to stream or download free books, movies, and music from the comfort of your home.
