Welcome, Kerry!
You might have seen a new face at YPL! It belongs to none other than our new Assistant Director, Kerry Cronin! Kerry joins us most recently from Stratham, New Hampshire, and has worked at libraries big and small throughout her impressive career. Her first day was Monday, April 22, and she came back again this week, which is a very good sign. Come say "hello" and help us give Kerry a warm YPL welcome! In the meantime, read all about her on our Staff page.

| We are a pet-loving folk. Let it be known that Kerry has a cat named Little Chino. Welcome, Kerry, and welcome, Little Chino. |

Irish Author Book Group with Deborah McDermott: | We Don't Know Ourselves
by Fintan O'Toole Thursday, May 16 2:00 - 3:30 PM
A Virtual Program
This is the final Irish Authors Book Group gathering with Ireland-based Deb McDermott, who says of We Don't Know Ourselves, "This is a non-fiction title. O'Toole, who is 65, is a brilliant columnist for The Irish Times. In this book, he traces the history of Ireland during his lifetime. It began with vise-like Catholic control but would go on to include referendum-passed marriage equality and abortion laws. He's very readable."

AUTHOR TALKMoondoggle: Franklin Roosevelt and the Fight for Tidal-Electric Power at Passamaquoddy Bay Wednesday, May 296:30 - 8:00 PM Community Room
Author Mark C. Borton sits down with York Public Library at the end of this month to talk about his book, Moondoggle.
Was Franklin Roosevelt’s plan to use 26-foot-high tides in the western Bay of Fundy to generate electricity a “Moondoggle”— a wildly impractical scheme—as its critics claimed? Or was it visionary thinking and brilliant engineering—a clean source of perpetual power? Either way it was going to be the world’s biggest electric power plant. Until “Quoddy was killed.”
