Hello Friends!
What's inspiring you this month? The artwork from this month's art exhibit is going up, featuring local artists from our very own schools. Yes, you read correctly, the popular Student Art Show is back. Visit the library this month to check out work from students at Village Elementary, Coastal Ridge Elementary, and York Middle School. The joy, talent and creativity in the work around the library is truly inspiring.
Our new Teen Advisory Group is inspiring, too! For Earth Month, these teens will be helping out around the library by creating a display of books, media, and fun facts about the environment. They're also helping to replant the raised beds in the Children's Garden so that we can enjoy them all summer long.
Spring is the season for rebirth and renewal, so it may seem discordant to consider end of life issues--but as we all know, hard situations don't pick seasons. If you or someone you know is struggling with end of life issues, please know that you are not alone, and there is support available to you in your community... and in your Library. In April and May, Hospice of Southern Maine will host several programs about hospice care, and the Alzheimer's Association of Maine is starting a monthly support group.
Additionally, please note that the Library will be closed on Monday, April 17 for Patriots' Day. (Also, we want to know... are you team Patriot's Day or team Patriots' Day?)
Love, YPL
P.S. It's National Poetry Month! Reply to this email by 4/10 with your favorite poem, and we'll enter you in a raffle for a copy of upcoming speaker Wesley McNair's book!
