Congratulations to all York Public Library Summer Reading Challenge participants! With more than 700 people of all ages registered, YPL was able to exceed last year's goal. It is wonderful that the temporary suspension of inter-library loan services did not slow York readers down!
During your summer vacations and road trips, remember YPL's eLibrary, which offers 24/7 access to digital content for books, audiobooks, film, magazines, newspapers and more...
During these dog days of summer, be sure to stop by York Public Library for a cool space to read, learn, and connect with friends and neighbors. The youth services department will be taking a programming pause in August to prepare for some exciting changes related to services for teens. There are many exciting in-person and virtual events to enjoy below. Join us!

An Evening with Diane Kane and Corey Cain
Thursday, August 15 6:30 PM Community Room
I Never Called Him Pa is a coming-of-age novel set in the 1950s told in the voice of Henry, a young fatherless boy living on a farm in Northern Illinois with his grandmother, his wayward mother, and the traveler who changes all their lives. After WWII, the military sent men home on trains. Some never got off. They rode the rails in boxcars, searching for their souls lost to the toils of society or the ravages of war. Ernest, one such man of color, seeks refuge with Henry, Gram, and her daughter Janie on the farm. Their sins and secrets could either drive them apart or bind them together.
This program is co-sponsored with Booktenders, York, Maine's local independent bookstore.
