Happy June!
First things first: Thank you to all the York residents who voted on May 20th and to all who approved our budget for the coming fiscal year. We have a lot in store including our upcoming Summer Reading Challenge, partnerships with local organizations, and ample opportunities to connect with your community!
Thank you again - we love being your library! |

SUMMER CHALLENGE STARTS NOW! |
| Read, Play, Explore, and Grow June 1 through July 31 |
Are you ready to start the York Public Library Summer Challenge?! Our annual initiative isn't just for the kids--adults get to play Bingo and earn prizes too. Each Bingo square has a reading suggestion or fun summer activity, and we think most of them are pretty easy, but we were fooled last year by a few of the boxes. Stop by any service desk to get your bingo sheet and get going! Can you beat your librarians to your first Bingo?
Participate in our Library Summer Challenge between June 1 and July 31. Once you get a Bingo, stop by the library to get a small prize from our treasure chests. All people who register for the Summer Program earn a free book to keep! |

Author Talk: Ann Beattie Tuesday, June 6 @ 7:00 PM
Fireside/Upper Level
Ann Beattie, a master storyteller, has been delighting readers since the publication of her short stories in the 1970s and her first novel, Chilly Scenes of Winter. But as her literary acclaim grew and she was hailed “the voice of her generation,” Ms. Beattie was also moonlighting as a nonfiction writer. As she writes in her introduction to this collection, “Nonfiction always gave me a thrill, even if it provided only an illusion of freedom. Freedom and flexibility—for me, those are the conditions under which imagination sparks.”

Ann Beattie has published twenty-one books and lives with her husband, the painter Lincoln Perry, in Maine.
