What's cooking at the Library?Chickpea chocolate chip cookies and homemade pasta, for starters! This month, Misa's Kitchen joins YPL for a virtual cooking class for families, and together we'll create a healthier take on classic chocolate chip cookies. Adult Services Librarian Michele B. is also back in the kitchen for a Pasta Making Class, sharing all the tips and techniques you need to make perfect pasta. (And just in time for Thanksgiving, if you're not the turkey type!) We welcome author Gregory Brown for an Author Talk that's not to be missed, and encourage you all to get writing for NaNoWriMo (that's National Novel Writing Month, of course). To help you get started, we invite you to join our Tuesday Writers' Group that will meet weekly this month. That's just a taste of our November goings-on. Please join us! York Public Library Pssst... Tuesday Writers' Group November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM York Public Library Community Room Dust off your novel, pull the poems out of the drawer, print out that screenplay, and join us for a weekly writer's meetup. We'll provide prompts, space, and community for you to get your next project off the ground, clean up what you've already written, or just to provide a creative diversion.

Tech Savvy: Google Docs Wednesday, November 10 @ 1:00 PM Come and learn the basics of Google Docs! This free online word processing software is free, easy to use, and can be accessed from any internet connected computer. In this Tech Savvy class we will learn how to register for a free Google account, how to access Google Docs, how to write and save documents, and how to share those documents. Participants will need to bring a laptop. Please have a Gmail account created in advance and access to your password. If you need help creating a Gmail account, please schedule a time with Devin in advance.

Watch and Discuss Plastic Wars Tuesday, November 16 @ 7:00 PM In celebration of York Maine Recycles Week, The York Recycling Committee invites all members of the community to watch the Frontline documentary Plastic Wars followed by a discussion of impacts and solutions. Game Night Wednesday, November 17 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM Come join us for a new, drop-in program: a monthly board game night at the library! Maybe you need a change of scenery to break your cribbage slump, maybe the library will help spark your Scrabble imagination, or perhaps you just want to try out a new game. We'll have a selection out on tables on the upper level of the library. We welcome all ages to come and have some fun.

Lego Builders Wednesday, November 10 @ 4:00 PM
Build something amazing! Each builder will use a bucket of the Library Legos to create something incredible at their table. Try sending your builds down the zip line. Will it survive or crash? Suggested for kids in kindergarten through 4th grade with a caregiver.

Museum of Bad Art: Living in Tough Times Tuesday, December 7 @ 7:00 PM As we endure a global pandemic, political upheaval, and unrelenting climate change, join the curators of the Museum of Bad Art to examine works from the MOBA Collection to discern how art reflects adversity. Art has always helped get us through difficult times. In this presentation MOBA explore some of the ways artists react to small and large, real and imagined, disasters.
