Learn more about what happened in Missoula and about Elizabeth Gurley Flynn with a presentation to appear on the Library’s YouTube page in mid-March. Takeout Storytime Kits: Pulley Power Especially for kids ages 2-5 Help your little one get ready to learn how to read by talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. March’s Pulley Power kit contains a pulley, cord, bucket, and other materials to construct your own simple machines. When children experiment with physics, they innately learn mathematical concepts even before they have the math skills to describe what they observe. Will you use your pulley to lift loads skyward, drag objects across the floor, or something else entirely? Each kit contains ideas to scaffold brainy play with your child. Two hundred kits will be available to pick up in the Children's Room and via the Bookmobile beginning Tuesday, March 1, first come, first serve, while supplies last. No reservations needed. photo: https://pixabay.com/photos/pulley-block-equipment-rigging-3584318/

Meet LizBozeman Public Library welcomes Liz DeVries to the Adult Programming and Outreach department. Liz is a librarian most recently from the Yuma County Public Library and before that The University of Arizona in Tucson. She's originally from the Livingston area and is familiar with Bozeman and Montana winters (though it has been a while since she's lived through one). She's worked in several different types of libraries since entering the field in 2014 as a reference librarian at a small college in Minnesota. She looks forward to bringing her ideas, enthusiasm, skills, and experience back home. At U of A, she managed the equipment lending program and coordinated the Seed Library. In Yuma, she ran resume classes, craft programs, and enjoyed setting up creative book displays. She brings a wealth of experience in customer and library service to BPL. Liz is a quilter, puzzle doer, and rock hound and can be frequently found on the river hunting for pretty agates with her family or perusing the puzzle exchange at the library. She’s a collector of cookbooks and pie plates. She’s currently reading the Darynda Jones Grim Reaper Series and the One Book One Bozeman novel The Cold Millions by Jess Walters and she recommends Nadiya Bakes for any bakers and fans of the Great British Baking Show. (The Strawberry Shortbread Cupcakes are super delicious.)

Meet AlishaAlisha McNally is one of our new library aides. She is a lifelong library lover and this is the first time she is joining the library as a member of the staff. She couldn’t be more excited to be a member of the team and bring her ideas to life. Alisha grew up exploring distance worlds in her favorite novels. In her adult life she has taken this passion for adventure and travel reading her favorite books around the world. This past year has brought her from Vermont to Bozeman to be closer to family. If she isn’t in the library reading or on an adventure exploring new lands you’ll find Alisha skiing, hiking, climbing, camping, or really anything outside. There is nothing Alisha loves more than trying new things. Some of her favorite reads of the year, include Les Fleurs du Mal by Charles Baudelaire, Rock, Paper, Scissors by Alice Feeney, and When Elephants Dance by Tess Uriza Holthe.
