With September right around the corner, our second annual golf tournament on September 15th is also fast approaching. Don't forget to register by September 4th if you want to participate as a golfer, a dinner guest, or both, as all proceeds will go towards the Library. Children's programming will continue throughout September with regularly scheduled Movie Nights, Tot Time, and Story Time. The Library will also be providing free community yoga again on Thursdays from October 10th through November 14th at Old Town Hall, so be sure to call the Library at (508) 669-6421 to register if you are interested. For lectures this month, Library Director Mark Procknik will present a talk at Old Town Hall on September 26th on the classic science fiction anthology series The Twilight Zone and the episodes that relate to libraries. This presentation is free to all who wish to attend, and no registration is required. The Library is also very excited to share news on our new building at 207 Main Street, as Phase Two of the interior renovations have begun. Friends of the Library Second Annual Golf Tournament

Register today for the Friends of the Dighton Public Library's Second Annual Golf Tournament on Sunday September 15th at Hazelton Golf Club located on 327 Summer Street in Rehoboth. The event will include four player scramble format, closest to the pin contests, men's and women's long drive, 50/50 raffle, North End Italian Dinner, cash bar, raffles, prizes, and more. Proceeds go towards the Dighton Public Library. A Dimension Not Only of Sight and Sound But of Mind: Libraries and the Preservation of Knowledge in The Twilight Zone

Premiering in 1959, Rod Serling's iconic series The Twilight Zone acquainted television audiences with the science fiction genre. Airing for five seasons, the classic anthology series treated viewers to memorable tales of space exploration, supernatural occurrences, and even examinations of human nature. Join Library Director Mark Procknik at Old Town Hall on Thursday September 26th at 6:30 for a talk devoted to the seminal science fiction series and the episodes that surprisingly relate to libraries and the preservation of knowledge.

Join the Traveling Book Group and travel around the world through books. This month, the book club will be traveling to 1875 Louisiana and the tumultuous Reconstruction era by reading The Book of Lost Friends by Lisa Wingate on Wednesday September 25th in the Children's Section located in the Lower Level of the Town Hall at 6:00. Copies of books are available at the library for anybody looking to take part in the group. The Traveling Book Group meets on the last Wednesday of each month, and anybody interested is welcome to attend.

Tot Time Join Ms. Lorie Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 in September for songs, stories, and finger-plays for children between the ages of 18 months and 3 years.

Story Time Preschoolers are invited to Story Time with Miss Lorie every Wednesday at 10:30 in September. Come listen to a few fun stories and create a fun craft to take home.

Annual Meeting The Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Dighton Public Library will be on Thursday October 10th at 6:30 in the Library's Children's Section located in the lower level of Dighton Town Hall. All are welcome, and we always welcome new friends. All you really need to do is love the library and join us for a few meetings a year to help brainstorm and plan great events!
