Have you heard the phrase: “not since the ‘70s” lately? On February 2, 1977, less than two weeks after assuming the Presidency, Jimmy Carter addressed the nation in a televised “fireside chat” to speak to Americans about the looming Energy Crisis. What tools and resources does the Constitution provide the Executive branch to take on such a crisis? What role do the other branches of government play? This program will examine the 39th President’s response to this crisis through the lens of primary sources of the Carter Library and National Archives. Led by Joshua Montanari, Education Specialist and Volunteer Docent Coordinator at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library.
Join our yoga instructor, Mary Beth Clancy for a weekly all levels slow flow and restore class throughout August, ending on August 31.
Through breath meditation, slow flow and restore poses we "revibe" our energy, release stress, and strengthen body mind spirit. Yogic philosophy lightly weaved throughout class. Once a month, we will also enjoy a mini sound meditation (crystal bowls, ocean drum, zaphir, chimes) during an extended savasana. Bliss!
Students may bring their own yoga mats, pillows, and towels to the class, or the library has mats and bolsters the students can use.
Mary Beth Clancy, MEd. is an experienced, certified yoga and meditation teacher, REIKI and sound practioner and counselor. Through yoga, meditation, reiki sound meditation and counseling, she encourages clients to tap into their pathways to mind-body-spirit connection, wholeness and enhanced well being.
We share Massachusetts with a diverse range of wildlife that you may have come across exploring your neighborhood or making headlines in the news. Learn about commonly encountered wildlife such as deer, coyote, and raccoons, and their intersection with the wild and developed spaces we inhabit. Find out best practices for maintaining bird feeders and attracting visitors. From amazing pollinators to problematic mosquitoes and ticks, we’ll introduce some incredible insects and how we impact each other. Whether you watch it from your window or your screens, you’ll learn more about how to peacefully co-exist with these unique neighbors here in the Commonwealth. Led by Tia Pinney, a Biologist, Lead Naturalist, and educator at Mass Audubon’s Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary in Lincoln. Since 1994, when she first started working at the farm, Tia has overseen efforts to maintain New England’s wildlife on our 206-acre property, managing staff and volunteers in planting projects and citizen science.

This book club is facilitated by librarians from the LGBTQ+ community.
This book group meets online, the 4th Monday of every month.

Each week, teens can volunteer up to two hours at the Peabody Library to earn community service hours, and will receive a free taco the first week of each month. Tuesday sessions are led by Amory at the West Branch Library, and Thursday sessions are led by Allison at the Main Branch Library in the Teen Room. You do not need to attend both sessions, but are welcome to do so.
Please see the Teen Librarian to fill out a Teen Volunteer Application at the start of this program.
Registration is not required. If you have questions, please email Allison at abridgewater@noblenet.org.
Looking for a way to do community service hours from home?
If you can't make it to the library, that's okay! By submitting a review of any book, comic, or graphic novel within the Teen Room (or through Hoopla, Libby, etc.), you can receive 1 (one) hour of community service. There is no limit to how many reviews you submit, and these reviews can also be included in our weekly newsletters if you'd like!
