Presidential Library Talks: Books, Boots & Bridles Tuesday, July 12, 2 PM, Online
In partnership with the Tewksbury Library, join us on Tuesdays all summer for this engaging series of online talks from historians and librarians at Presidential Libraries across the country.
In order to receive the unique Zoom link for this program, please make sure to register here.
Books, Boots & Bridles: The Story of the Horse Back Librarians
Learn the story of the Pack Horse Library initiative, a little known program of FDR’s Work Progress Administration (WPA). Its mission, carried out almost entirely by women, was to deliver and distribute reading materials to the far off corners of Appalachia during the darkest hours of the Great Depression. Led by Jeffrey Urbin, Education Specialist at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum. |

Death Cafe |
|
|
Online Death Cafe Tuesday, July 19, 12 PM Register here
At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death.
Please join other adults for the Peabody Institute Library’s first virtual Death Cafe - an afternoon of open, lively, and insightful discussion about death. This program will be offered over Zoom and pre-registration is required.
While not a support group nor a venue for bereavement, a Death Cafe seeks to provide an unscripted, non-judgmental platform for those wishing to explore the many facets of this often taboo subject.
Come with an open mind, a healthy curiosity, and a willingness to share your thoughts, feelings, and questions with other like-minded individuals.
This event will be facilitated by Richard Davis a long standing hospice volunteer who has led over fifty on site and virtual Death Cafes.

Looking for a way to do community service hours from home?
If you can't make it to the library, that's okay! By submitting a review of any book, comic, or graphic novel within the Teen Room (or through Hoopla, Libby, etc.), you can receive 1 (one) hour of community service. There is no limit to how many reviews you submit, and these reviews can also be included in our weekly newsletters if you'd like!
To submit a book review, either fill out this Google Form, or come into the library and fill out a physical copy.
