Books, Boots & Bridles: The Story of the Horse Back Librarians
Learn the story of the Pack Horse Library initiative, a little known program of FDR’s Work Progress Administration (WPA). Its mission, carried out almost entirely by women, was to deliver and distribute reading materials to the far off corners of Appalachia during the darkest hours of the Great Depression. Led by Jeffrey Urbin, Education Specialist at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum.
Craft & Chat
July Craft & Chat Tuesday, July 5, 6:30 PM Register here
Craft and Chat is a monthly opportunity to build a creative local community, for ages 13+. Bring your handicraft project and make some new friends, meet your neighbors, or reconnect with old friends.
If you don't have a craft to bring, or want to start something and don't have the supplies, never fear - we have supplies and kits for you to use here at the library.
All skill levels and interests are welcome, and our facilitator Sarah can offer instruction on knitting, crochet, and cross stitch as well as basic sewing.
Registration is encouraged but not required. Craft & Chat is the first Tuesday of every month.
Join our new yoga instructor, Mary Beth Clancy for a weekly all levels slow flow and restore class!
Through breath meditation, slow flow and restore poses we "revibe" our energy, release stress, and strengthen body mind spirit. Yogic philosophy lightly weaved throughout class. Once a month, we will also enjoy a mini sound meditation (crystal bowls, ocean drum, zaphir, chimes) during an extended savasana. Bliss!
Students may bring their own yoga mats, pillows, and towels to the class, or the library has mats and bolsters the students can use.
Mary Beth Clancy, MEd. is an experienced, certified yoga and meditation teacher, REIKI and sound practioner and counselor. Through yoga, meditation, reiki sound meditation and counseling, she encourages clients to tap into their pathways to mind-body-spirit connection, wholeness and enhanced well being.

Earn community service hours by participating in the Teen Advisory and Community Organization, or as we like to call it, TACO! Each week, teens can volunteer up to two hours at the Peabody Library to earn community service hours, and will receive a free taco the first week of each month. Tuesday sessions are led by Amory at the West Branch Library, and Thursday sessions are led by Allison at the Main Branch Library in the Teen Room. You do not need to attend both sessions, but are welcome to do so.
Please see the Teen Librarian to fill out a Teen Volunteer Application at the start of this program.
Registration is not required. If you have questions, please email Allison at abridgewater@noblenet.org.
Looking for a way to do community service hours from home?
If you can't make it to the library, that's okay! By submitting a review of any book, comic, or graphic novel within the Teen Room (or through Hoopla, Libby, etc.), you can receive 1 (one) hour of community service. There is no limit to how many reviews you submit, and these reviews can also be included in our weekly newsletters if you'd like!
To submit a book review, either fill out this Google Form, or come into the library and fill out a physical copy.
