After July 31st, the Transparent Language Database will be part of the Massachusetts Statewide Databases. Existing users will no longer have access to their user accounts or profile information, and user data will not carry over. We recommend that if they want to save a history of their progress and information, they run a “My Transcript” report for their user account’s “all time” data. Please contact the Reference Desk if you need help running your "My Transcript" report.

(IN PERSON) Author Talk - The Year the World Stood Still by Sue BresciaTuesday, August 9th, 6:30-8:00PMMeeting Room As part of the Mansfield Public Library's Oceans of Possibilities Summer Library Program, Mansfield Public Library is excited to welcome author and artist Sue Brescia for a discussion of her book, The Year the World Stood Still. In her talk, “The Year the World Stood Still”, author/artist Susan Brescia will share her own personal story of how she turned adversity into something positive during COVID-19 and what inspired her to memorialize this once-in-a-lifetime community event. This event is free and open to all. Registration recommended for courtesy reminder email on the day of the program. Sue is no stranger to journaling through art. Since she can remember, she used works of art, be it through drawing, songwriting or musical composition, as a form of expression, with hopes of inspiring others to do the same. No stranger to adversity, the collection of Susan Brescia's life experiences have sculpted her into the artist she is today. She started out pursuing a musical career before her life was derailed by a rare cancer in her late 20's and has held several benefit concerts over the years to help raise funds for various charities. Although she spent most of her professional career as a creative director, she didn't stop creating various works of art, as she believes that one's gifts are meant to be shared. Book Chat for Teens (Grades 6 through 12) Tuesday, August 2nd & 16th, 2:00-2:45PM Zoom & Teen SpaceStarting Tuesday, July 5th, the Mansfield Public Library is excited to bring back a bi-weekly teen version of our popular Virtual Book Chat! Our book chat for teens in Grades 6 through 12 is a great way for teens to connect with each other through their love of books and reading! There is no assigned book to discuss, just a great way to tell each other what books you like to read, what you are currently reading and maybe what you want to read! The discussion will be moderated by YA Librarian Whitney Brown, who will also offer reading suggestions for those who are stumped on what to read! The teen book chat will meet virtually and in-person, which gives teens the option of coming into the library (we’d love to see you!) or participating from home! In-Person Creative Writing Workshop for Teens(Grades 6 thru 12) Wednesday, August 3rd & 10th 6:30-8:00PM Meeting Room Mansfield Public Library welcomes journalist Sandra Churchill, who will run an awesome creative writing workshop for teens! As part of the Mansfield Public Library's Oceans of Possibilities Summer Library Program, Artist/Journalist Sandra Churchill will run a Creative Writing workshop series that features five sessions of in-person, engaging writing workshops to help foster teen creativity, character creation, dialogue, setting, description, and conflict. The goal is to foster a welcoming and creative atmosphere for teens to express themselves, engage their imaginations, and write fiction outside of an academic setting. The creative writing workshops seek to facilitate teen confidence both in their work and in themselves as they explore their writing style and various writing genres, share their work among their peers and provide supportive feedback. Designing "unlikely heroes", creating alternative character perspectives, and crafting sensory-detailed description are among the topics to be explored in this five-week series.
Registration for each workshop is not required, but is recommended in order for teens to get the most out of the entire series. This event is free and open to all. Registration Required. Stuffed Animal Sleepover Drop Off Friday, August 5, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Drop off your stuffie for a night of mischief and fun at the library! Your stuffed animal will enjoy a sleepover with other kid's stuffed friends! You can pick up your stuffed animal the next day, Saturday, August 6 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. You'll be able to see what your stuffie was up to by watching the slide show at the Circulation Desk!

Friends of the Library Book Sale The Friends of the Library happily accept donations of books in excellent condition, to add to their year-round Book Sale inside the Library. To make a donation, please call to make an appointment 508-261-7380. Please do not leave donations outside the library or in the book drop. The Friends are currently in need of paperback romances and beach reads!! The Friends offer a variety of books for all ages. Most items cost $1! The Friends do not accept: - Books that have been stored in an attic or basement
- Books that have mildew or mold
- Books with missing, yellowed or written in pages
- Books without the dust jacket
- Textbooks
