Wednesday, August 7 at 10:30AM

Come in and have some fun with Big Ryan! Big Ryan's toddler program focuses on Puppet Play and Music and Movement. Due to the unpredictability and short attention spans of very young children these programs usually run about 25 to 30 minutes. 


This program is supported in part by a grant from the Bridgewater Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Saturday, August 3 | 10:00AM to 1:00PM

Bring your own projects and knit! Join this informal adult knitting group and be in the company of other fiber artists while you purl 1, knit 2.This is not an instructional class but beginners are welcome to attend as experienced knitters are more than happy to share their wisdom. So, if you want to learn a new hobby, please join us! Drop-in any time from 10:00AM to 1:00PM and stay as long as you'd like.


No registration required. All adults 18+ are welcome to attend.

Join us for a free family yoga class, presented by Marybeth of Maha Yoga. Bring the family, friends, or come on your own! Yoga for Everyone is a perfect way to get everyone together all while being an active participant!

Event Date: Monday, August 12 at 1:00PM

Join Bridgewater Martial Arts for a FREE kid's safety program at the library!


Kids will be taught simple and preservable thought processes to avoid abduction and assault. A small hands on portion will be taught at the end with some retainable technique. This program is open to kids ages 5-12.


Instructor, John Hatfield, is a nurse who has spent years submerged in adolescent psychiatric studies as well as operating a martial arts school for over 30 years. Experts from all over the country have been consulted in this simple course and the curriculum is easy to apply and remember.

New Members Are Invited to Join

The TaleSpinners has existed for nearly twenty years and is open to all. The TaleSpinners meet on Thursdays, year round, from 1-3 PM in the Mary Jarvis Conference Room.


The TaleSpinners encourage all sorts of writing: memoir, poetry, short stories, and/or novels. The TaleSpinners write in all genres: mystery, thrillers, science fiction, romance, humor. We engage in gentle, helpful, and encouraging critiques of one another’s writing, and everyone gets a chance to share their work. We ask each writer to come with copies of his/her work for the rest of the group to write their comments and suggestions upon.

With Ancestry, family historians and genealogists can come to the Bridgewater Public Library and have full access to Ancestry Library Edition records for their research! 


Ancestry is the largest online family history resource, with over 20 billion records. Our new subscription includes records from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, as well as major collections from France, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Australia, and China. 


Records include: 

  • US census records (1790-1950) 

  • Canadian census records (1851-1911) 

  • Birth, marriage, and death records from the US, UK, and Canada

  • Canadian Genealogy Index (1600s-1900s)

  • Drouin Collection of French-Canadian and Quebec historical records (1621-1967)

  • Immigration, emigration, passport, and naturalization records

  • US and Canadian passenger lists (1865-1935)

  • Some US military records 

  • Court, land, tax, and probate records

Come to the library with your own laptop or use one of our computers and continue to research your family story!
