February Artist Meet & Greet

Drop in to meet artist Gordon Bailey, whose exhibit Eastern Light: NY to ME is on display throughout the month of February.

Gordon Bailey is an artist living and working in Wells, ME. He received his BFA in 1975 from the University of New Hampshire and his MFA in 1980 from Queens College. He worked as a professor at Skidmore College, Queens College, and Hobart & William Smith Colleges, as well as a Senior Account Executive at Duggal Visual Solutions in NYC. He now enjoys his retirement by spending most days in his studio.

Eastern Light: NY to ME

This series of paintings was completed between October 2021 and January 2022, my first year living in Maine. My work reflects the world around me. It is not intentional - I work simultaneously in sketchbook diaries testing geometric configurations and color schemes. They evolve into small, medium, and large format canvases. The formats used in this body of work reflect similar patterns used in earthen panels created between 1986-1996.
