TaleSpinners have existed for nearly twenty years and is open to all. The TaleSpinners meet on Thursdays, year round, from 1-3 PM in the Mary Jarvis Conference Room.
The TaleSpinners encourage all sorts of writing: memoir, poetry, short stories, and/or novels. The TaleSpinners write in all genres: mystery, thrillers, science fiction, romance, humor. We engage in gentle, helpful, and encouraging critiques of one another’s writing, and everyone gets a chance to share their work. We ask each writer to come with copies of his/her work for the rest of the group to write their comments and suggestions upon. |

Herblock's Presidents |
A Temporary Library Exhibit |
Join us for a celebration of the United States Presidents through the generous support of The Herb Block Foundation. Herblock: The President's Exhibit will be on display in our main lobby through the month of February.
| About the Exhibit |
This exhibition features Herblock's Presidents! Walk through a five panel exhibition to view artistic reproductions of some of his most famous caricatures. As Block saw it, in some cases, a forceful, negative reaction could do the most good. He viewed the role of political cartoonists as those who kick "the big boys who kick the underdogs." In Herblock: The President's Exhibit, Block goes after some very "big boys." |
About Herbert Block |
Herbert Block (1909 - 2001), commonly known as Herblock, was an American editorial cartoonist who became well known for his political commentary. In addition to authoring several books, Herblock wrote for the Chicago Daily News and The Washington Post. He won three Pulitzer Prizes, and became well known for his caricatures of the United States presidents, which to him were "a means for poking fun, for puncturing pomposity." |
