Starting a Story

Saturday July 8 at 10:00AM

Do you want to write a story (a book, a series, a screenplay) but don’t know how to start? This 3-hour writing workshop is for adults (18+) who want to learn how to come up with ideas that inspire them to write. This workshop will be taught by Chris Vigneau, a local Bridgewater teacher, cartoonist, and writer.

This workshop will address:

  • The kinds of stories you really like
  • Subjects & activities which you find interesting, and would like to explore
  • Creative roadblocks, and how to get through them

Participants are encouraged to list their top five (5) stories and bring this list to class for discussion. Participants may also bring physical books or DVDs for visual reference to share with the class. At the workshop's end, each participant will leave with at least three unique story ideas/inspiring concepts that they might choose to expand into fully-realized narratives.

July Artist

McGrath's photographs were taken in the local communities surrounding Bridgewater. They are about nature, animals and the interaction between nature and humans.

McGrath's interest in nonverbal communication began when she was a child. Her father taught her some Morse Code and her grandmother exposed her to American Sign Language. Years later, while working with senior citizens, McGrath began learning Braille with the hope of teaching senior citizens who had low vision to read. She combined her love of photography and interest with nonverbal communication by writing the captions in the exhibit in level 1 Braille.
