Wednesday March 27 at 6:00PM

Are you and your friends or family looking to do some volunteer work?

On Wednesday, March 27 at 6:00PM, the Bridgewater Public Library is hosting a Dress A Girl Around the World dress kit workshop. Dress A Girl provides hand-sewn dresses to young girls in need in the US and around the world. At this workshop, we will be creating dress kits for future sewing workshops. This involves measuring and matching fabric to trims and accessories and then bagging them.  All materials will be provided. No sewing involved.

This will be a fun, but meaningful activity for the entire family. Please join us!

Community service hours can be earned by doing this event. No registration required. All are welcome!

Event Date: Wednesday April 3 at 5:00PM

In this workshop, participants will learn 10 guidelines to be more successful when communicating, guiding, and supporting persons who are on the Autism Spectrum/Neurodiverse.

Participates will be familiarized with the types of Autism, and the current view of what the spectrum means. We will explore the social and communication skills and tools that can be implemented to become more inclusive of those individuals on the spectrum.

This workshop is presented by Laurette Ryan and Frankie Ryan.

Laurette Ryan has owned Balancepoint Pilates Teacher Training with satellite programs in Massachusetts and North Carolina since 1999. Laurette is a national fitness presenter, CEC provider for NPCP, and assists in the development of the only 3rd party National Pilates Certification Exam through NPCP.

Frankie is a 24-year-old young woman on the Autism spectrum. She is a passionate advocate, educating the public in the challenges that face the Neurodiverse community. Her unique perspective from personal experience is a valued addition to the science presented.

Artist Reception: Saturday, March 30 at 1:00PM

Drop by to meet artist Kayla Snover, whose art exhibit Spreading the Joy of Color will be on display throughout the month of March.

About Kayla Snover Studio

Kayla Snover Studio is where color and shapes combine to create dynamic pieces. Founded in 2020, my passion for color is evident through the use of the complete spectrum of the rainbow in my pieces. I am a proud artist with Down Syndrome who works at Gateway Arts in Brookline, Massachusetts. I also produce many pieces at my home studio in Lynnfield, MA. Art has provided me a way of expressing myself and the beauty of the world around me! I cannot wait to share my art with everyone and make the world a little bit more colorful one piece at a time!

About the Exhibit

World Down Syndrome Day is March 21st. The theme for 2024 is End The Stereotypes. This exhibit's goal is to celebrate people with Down Syndrome and make others aware of their abilities and accomplishments. The exhibit will include abstract acrylic painting on paper, wood, and canvas; pieces created using recycled Tyvek materials and watercolors; and abstract embroidery pieces.
