PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE: The Friends' Fall Book and Bake Sale will take place on Saturday, November 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Stop by the library's meeting room to pick up some bargain books and tasty treats! All proceeds go to the Friends of the Pembroke Public Library and are used to fund "extras" for the library including discounted museum passes, bestsellers, items for our Library of Things, and programs for all ages. The Friends' Basket Raffle is currently underway with winners to be drawn after the Book Sale. Tickets can be purchased at the front desk of the library for $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.

The Pembroke Public Library and Council on Aging are partnering for the new Words on Wheels program starting this month! If you are unable to make it to the library in person, COA drivers can deliver books selected by library staff to your home. To participate, all you have to do is fill out an application (linked here) and turn it in at the library or Council on Aging, or mail it to Pembroke Public Library at 142 Center St. Pembroke, MA 02359. If you would like us to mail you a paper copy of the application, give us a call at 781-293-6771.

Pembroke Public Library Book Club Tuesday, November 1st from 6:30-7:30 p.m. For our November meeting the PPL Book Club is reading A History of Wild Places by Shea Ernshaw, in which three residents of a secluded, seemingly peaceful commune investigate the disappearances of two outsiders. Yoga Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Led by Barbara Ward and other instructors from the YogaConnection of Plymouth. Open to all levels. A single-class drop-in is $12 and a four-class registration is $45 ($35 for Friends members). Friends members can also purchase an eight-class punch ticket for $80, which is valid for three months.

Common Loons and a Few Other Birds of New England Wednesday, November 2nd from 3:30-4:30 p.m. What is your favorite bird to spot at the feeder, in your yard, or on a hike? Have you had the privilege of being by a lake and hearing loons call? Have you wondered what they are saying or where they go in the winter? Or do you just like birds? Join bird lover Roz Kubek in person for a fun and fascinating hour learning about common loons and a few other “cool” New England birds. Genealogy Night Tuesday, November 29th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Are you interested in finding out more about your genealogy? Do you have a cool story about one of your ancestors you want to share? Join in our monthly Genealogy Night to chat with other family history buffs! All are welcome to attend, from experienced researchers who would like to share tips or stories about great finds, to beginners who want to learn more about the research process and online resources. Library laptops will be available to explore Ancestry Library Edition.

November Teen Take & Make: Autumn Animal Pom Poms Available in November while supplies last We know teens are busy with school, work, chores, and more so we're giving you an opportunity to craft on your own time. Pick up a Craft Kit in the YA Lounge and create your own Autumn Animal Pom Pom craft.

Storytime Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers (ages 2-5) and their caregivers can enjoy an interactive storytime with songs, dances, games, and stories that encourage language development and social skills. Each themed storytime is followed by a craft.

Baby Lapsit Thursdays November 3rd and 16th from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Designed for babies and toddlers from 6 to 24 months, Lapsits are a great chance for caregivers to bond with their child while learning new rhymes and stories to share. Each program includes stretches, music, a story, and more followed by an open play time.

LEGO Club Tuesday, November 8th from 4-5 p.m. Kids ages 5+ are welcome to visit and build with the library LEGOs. Bring your neighbors, big siblings, and school friends! LEGO Club is designed to give kids a safe, creative environment in which they can freely build with LEGOs, interact with peers, and express themselves.

Baby Music Makers Thursday, November 10th from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Enhance your little one’s love of music during this 30-minute bonding time, with songs, dance, and movement games to excite one’s budding musician. Babies and toddlers ages 0-4 with a caregiver are welcome to drop in and join us!

Anime Club Thursday, November 10th from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Ages 11-15 are invited to watch Miyazaki's Spirited Away (rated PG), snack, and socialize. This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed.

Spanish Fun for Toddlers Monday, November 14th from 3:30-4:00 p.m. ¡Hola amigos! Ages 2-4 with a caregiver are welcome to attend an interactive class that introduces Spanish through songs, games, and play. This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed.

Needle Felting for Teens Wednesday, November 16th from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Ages 13-18 will needle felt the adorable axolotl salamanders of Mexico. Known for their smiling face and feathery gills you'll view pictures and learn more about them. In this beginner's class, Pop Up Art School will show you how to sculpt basic shapes using a barbed needle and wool roving. Needle felting is easier than it looks and it's fun and relaxing! Puppy Dog Tales Thursday, November 17th from 4:15-5:00 p.m. Readers of all ages may read to a certified therapy dog to develop their literacy and presentation skills as well as build confidence and self-esteem. Our dogs and trainers provide a supportive environment to practice reading aloud. This is a drop-in event.

The Power of the Post (ages 7-12) Friday, November 18th from 4:00-4:30 p.m. Kids ages 7-12 can get the inside scoop on our United States Postal Service and learn the value of letter writing with special guest George Kippenhan, an Executive Board Member of the award winning Postal Customer Council of Greater Boston. This presentation will get you thinking about the many people connected through the Post, from family members to famous athletes, and will give kids a chance to participate in a new stamp dedication featuring Shel Silverstein's art. This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed.

Playtime Monday & Tuesday November 21st & 22nd at 10:30 a.m. Sharing in play is an excellent way to help children build social skills, promote learning, and discover that the library is a destination for fun. Children will have the opportunity to practice teamwork, strengthen motor skills, and expand their imaginations while playing with blocks, puzzles, and more. Meet new friends, bond with your little one, and explore the many resources your library has to offer! **Playtime will take place in lieu of storytime. This is a drop in event.**
