I Am Still Alive by Kate Alice Marshall: Everything changes in an instant and Jess is left stranded in the wilderness with winter coming fast. Her supplies are limited, her injuries are still healing from the car crash that killed her mother, and her survival skills are limited to a one-time camping trip with her class. She doesn't know how she'll survive, but she has to make shelter, find food, and stay warm if she wants to take revenge on those who left her here...the men who killed her father.
Marshall presents an enthralling adventure and survival story through the eyes of a strong and sympathetic character; readers will root for Jess while being amazed at her ingenuity. The author doesn't shy away from Jess having to deal with a very new and painful disability and she certainly doesn't let it stop her from doing everything she can to make it to the next day. The combination of challenges and how our protagonist overcomes them again and again will put readers on the edge of their seat and have many considering how they would fare in the same situation. -Miss Melissa
