Pembroke Public Library Newsletter July 2021
The library has been fine free throughout the uncertainty of the past year, and the Trustees have voted to remain fine free* from now on! Plus, to celebrate the 2021 Summer Reading program, anyone with late fees on their account (no matter how old!) can clear them up with the donation of a nonperishable food item. This is a great opportunity to help both yourself and others! Simply bring your donation to the front desk anytime between now and August 20th. Donations will go to the Pembroke Food Pantry. Monetary donations to the Food Pantry will also be accepted in lieu of an item. *A few exclusions apply, such as hotspots and items from our Library of Things.

For the month of July, the Friends of the Pembroke Public Library will receive a $1 donation from each purchase of the $2.50 reusable GIVE BACK WHERE IT COUNTS bag at the Shaw's store located at 476 Liberty Street in Hanson.

Outlawed by Anna North is an alternate history of the United States where a flu has taken out much of the population and religious extremism grips the survivors. The daughter of a midwife is run out of town in 1894 when she cannot get pregnant. Ada turns to the Hole in the Wall Gang, which is made up of other barren women and a colorful leader called the Kid, and so begins her new life of crime. I'm not usually a huge fan of westerns, but this was a delicious mixture of (semi)historical fiction, western, and character study - I couldn't put it down! - Maddy
