Pembroke Cooks!Pembroke's new cooking program features a tutorial video on how to make easy, two ingredient homemade pasta with our latest addition to the Library of Things, the Imperia Pasta Machine! Please note the Children's Room will be closed from Saturday, September 23 through Tuesday, September 27 due to planned renovations. During this time, patrons will have limited access to the children's collection. There will be no Storytime programs during the renovation period.

Pembroke Public Library Book Club Tuesday, September 5th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. For our September meeting the PPL Book Club is reading The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks by Shauna Robinson, about a woman who arrives in a small town to run a struggling bookstore only to find that she's banned from selling anything written in the past century. Yoga Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Yoga is coming back to the Pembroke Public Library for its 31st year! Led by Barbara Ward and other instructors from the YogaConnection of Plymouth, yoga is gentle, mindful, and open to all levels and any body! The oldest student is 92 and has been attending since the program started! A single-class drop-in is $12 and a four-class registration is $45 ($35 for Friends members). Friends members can also purchase an eight-class punch ticket for $80, which is valid for three months. Feel free to reach out to Barbara at 508-269-5780 if you have any questions!

What Happens After the Paychecks Stop? Tuesday, September 12th at 6:30 p.m. Presented by Victoria Robillard of Edward Jones Investments. If you are nearing or entering retirement and are interested in a strategy designed to help build an income stream and make your retirement income last, join us for What Happens After the Paychecks Stop? A Retirement Income Primer. She’ll explore how to budget for retirement expenses, examine potential sources of retirement income, discuss strategies to provide for your goals and address potential risks. Free and open to all. Author Talk: Fighting Fire: A Proactive ApproachWednesday, September 13th at 6:30 p.m. Join Pembroke resident and retired Quincy Fire Department Captain Tom Lyons for a talk on his book Fighting Fire: A Proactive Approach. Tom is a 33-year veteran of the Quincy Fire Department, where he served 16 years as a suppression firefighter and lieutenant responding to incidents, and later as a captain managing the department’s fire prevention efforts. He then continued within the field as the fire safety administrator at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston where for 10 ½ years he oversaw the safety and wellbeing of staff and patients at 25 locations. He has written 200 articles for The Quincy Sun, many of which have been compiled into this book.

Genealogy Night Tuesday, September 26th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Genealogy Night will still be taking place in the Pop-Up Library in the meeting room. Are you interested in finding out more about your genealogy? Do you have a cool story about one of your ancestors you want to share? Join in our monthly Genealogy Night to chat with other family history buffs! All are welcome to attend, from experienced researchers who would like to share tips or stories about great finds, to beginners who want to learn more about the research process and online resources. Library laptops will be available to explore Ancestry Library Edition.

September Teen Take-And-Make: Yarn-Wrapped Bugs Available beginning September 1st while supplies last We know teens are busy with school, work, chores, and more so we're giving you an opportunity to craft on your own time. Pick up a Craft Kit in the YA Lounge and create a happy bug wrapped in colorful yarn.

Storytime Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers (ages 2-5) and their caregivers can enjoy an interactive storytime with songs, dances, games, and stories that encourage language development and social skills. Each themed storytime is followed by a craft. There will be no Storytime programs on Monday, September 25 or Tuesday, September 26

Baby Lapsit Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Designed for babies and toddlers from 6 to 24 months, Lapsits are a great chance for caregivers to bond with their child while learning new rhymes and stories to share. Each program includes stretches, music, a story, and more followed by an open play time.

LEGO Club Tuesday, September 12th from 4-5 p.m. Kids ages 5+ are welcome to visit and build with the library LEGOs. Bring your neighbors, big siblings, and school friends! LEGO Club is designed to give kids a safe, creative environment in which they can freely build with LEGOs, interact with peers, and express themselves. This month's theme is "Creature Alert"

Anime Club Thursday, September 14th from 4-5 p.m. Ages 11 - 15 are invited to watch anime, snack, craft and socialize. This month attendees will watch Summer Wars (rated PG) and craft candy sushi*. This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed. *Please inform staff of any food allergies either at the event by speaking with Miss Kiki or prior to the event by emailing Miss Melissa at mmccleary@sailsinc.org.

Chess Club Wednesday, September 20th from 4-5 p.m. All ages* and skill levels can learn and play chess at the library. Whether you have been playing for years or want to start playing for the first time, you’re welcome to join us. This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed. *Children under age 8 must be accompanied by someone over age 13 at all times.

Puppy Dog Tales Thursday, September 21st from 4:15-5:00 p.m. Readers of all ages may read to a certified therapy dog to develop their literacy and presentation skills as well as build confidence and self-esteem. Our dogs and trainers provide a supportive environment to practice reading aloud. This is a drop-in event.
