Pembroke Public Library Newsletter August 2021

The library has been fine free throughout the uncertainty of the past year, and the Trustees have voted to remain fine free* from now on! Plus, to celebrate the 2021 Summer Reading program, anyone with late fees on their account (no matter how old!) can clear them up with the donation of a nonperishable food item. This is a great opportunity to help both yourself and others! Simply bring your donation to the front desk anytime between now and August 20th. Donations will go to the Pembroke Food Pantry. Monetary donations to the Food Pantry will also be accepted in lieu of an item. *A few exclusions apply, such as hotspots and items from our Library of Things.

I just finished the last book in the Maze Runner trilogy (The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials, and The Death Cure) by James Dashner....Oh the emotions!! The series follows teenager Thomas and his scrappy band of gladers through trials and tribulations galore. Who should he trust? What is real? Is WICKED good? Is it all worth it? Dashner keeps you captivated through this intense, perilous journey. I enjoyed the main characters' development throughout the series. All the choices they have to make have them growing and changing as the story progresses. It's hard not to get attached to them... Highly recommend if you like YA with a sci-fi/dystopian future setting. - Karen
