The Academy Awards: The Good, the Bad, and the Outrageous Wednesday, April 14th at 6 p.m. Join film presenter and host Frank Mandosa and brush up on your Oscar knowledge to get ready for the biggest night in Hollywood! How did the annual Academy Awards get started? Why was it created, and who exactly votes? Who has won (or lost) the award over the years? What are some famous (and infamous) moments from the ceremony itself? And, of course, who are the this year’s nominees in a very different-looking awards season? Storytime To-Go Kit: Springtime Available through April or while supplies last Storytime To-Go aims to bring the experience of storytime to you and your child by offering opportunities for developing early literacy skills. These kits were created for ages 2-5 and include activities that support five skills that build a strong foundation for a reader: reading, talking, singing, writing, and playing together every day. April's theme is SPRINGTIME. You and your child can create colorful flowers from glue and yarn, sing about raindrops, imagine your own garden, and more while building skills and creativity. April StoryWalk® with Wolfboy Saturday, April 17th - Sunday, April 25th A StoryWalk® is an innovative and interactive way for readers of all ages to enjoy a story and the outdoors at the same time. Together you can read Wolfboy by Andy Harkness. Some pages will even have activities you can do to engage with the story! No registration required. Visit anytime during the week to enjoy the walk; sunlight hours are recommended. Social distancing and masks will be required. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

College Financing Presentation Wednesday, April 7th at 3 p.m. Teens getting ready for college are welcome to join this free Zoom presentation about college financing with MEFA (Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority). This program will have a Q&A period at the end and will help you answer questions like: - How do you apply for financial aid?
- What types of financial aid are available?
- What is the FAFSA? When is the deadline for the FAFSA?
- Who Qualifies for the FAFSA?

Gender-Expansive Yoga Saturday, April 17th at 2:30 p.m. This gender-expansive yoga event is for ages 12 - 18 and promises a welcoming space for teens anywhere along the gender spectrum to learn yoga amongst their peers, allies, and siblings in a supportive, open-hearted environment. No prior yoga experience is needed but a student’s recognition, understanding, and whole-hearted support of gender diversity is a pre-requisite to join. Registration is required; sign up by visiting SShAGLY's online form. Emails with session information will be sent one day before the event. This class will be taught via Zoom by Alexandra De Collibus of Sweet Pea Yoga, Southborough, MA. This event is hosted by SShAGLY.

Sensei by John Donohue is a modern day martial arts action novel set in New York City. The protagonist is an Irish American undergoing advanced training with an old school Japanese master. He gets involved with his police officer brother in solving a multiple murder mystery. The author, John Donohue, has black belts in Japanese karate and kendo and a PhD in Anthropology specializing in Japanese martial arts culture and makes his descriptions of martial arts action and philosophy feel very authentic.-Brian

Stream Selfie March 22nd was World Water Day. Do your part and join Stream Selfie, a citizen science project that helps gather data for scientists who are studying the quality of water all around the United States. To participate, just find a stream in your neighborhood, take pictures of it, and share them online through the SciStarter website. Your photos will be helping researchers decide whether the stream is a good place for future studies.
