At-Home STEAM Activities
Baking Soda Dinosaur Eggs
https://www.steampoweredfamily.com/activities/hatch-dinosaur-eggs-with-science/
Mix baking soda and water, then use it to mold eggs around small dinosaurs. For added fun, you can use food coloring to tint the eggs. Let the eggs dry overnight, then kids can go on an egg hunt outside! Using spray bottles, droppers, or spoons, slowly add vinegar to the eggs and watch the fizzing reaction! If you used coloring, you can also explore mixing colors. When you’ve “hatched” all the dinosaurs, give them a quick rinse and you’re ready to play!

Staff Pick

Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes is available as both an eBook and audiobook in our OverDrive collection. Teresa recently listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration. She says: "This book is just what I needed during this time: the writing was good, the story was complex enough to be interesting without requiring too much mental effort, and it made me feel good. The book takes place in Maine, a familiar and comforting setting to New Englanders. It is the story of a woman getting her life back on track after losing her husband - who was beloved in the town but not actually a good husband to her. The relationships in the book are all interesting, especially her complex relationship with her late husband. I found myself looking for chores around the house to do while I listened to this book!"
